Amazon.com Product Description

Designed and biomechanically engineered specifically for the natural stride of women, the Tubbs women's Wilderness snowshoes are ideal for go-anywhere/all-terrain use. The snowshoes are outfitted with a women's-specific 6000 series tapered aluminum body, a durable, lightweight frame that's capable of tackling steep pitches, powder, and wind-packed terrain. The shoes' 180 bindings, meanwhile, offer full step-in convenience, with a comfortable midfoot buckle and fully molded, padded uppers. Add in such features as a Talon crampon system, a rotating toe cord, and a Fit-Step biomechanical tail and you have an easy-to-use, reliable companion no matter where your adventures take you.

The women's Wilderness snowshoes are perfect for go-anywhere/all-terrain adventures.
Features and Benefits

180 bindings: Tubbs' women's-specific 180 bindings feature a 3D Fit and "step-in" convenience, with an easy-to-use midfoot buckle and a set-and-forget heel strap. The bindings' fully molded, padded uppers provide contoured stability and warmth, while the midfoot V-Strap offers a personalized fit. Each binding also includes a rigid, asymmetric (left- foot/right-foot-specific) base, with patented Control Wings that connect seamlessly with the binding uppers for total coverage and stability.

Talon crampon system: The shoes' stainless-steel crampon system is ergonomically centered directly under key areas of impact (forefoot and heel) to create maximum grip throughout the stride. The system also includes compact yet jagged teeth that provide constant penetrating contact on all types of terrain and snow conditions.

Rotating toe cord: The most efficient pivot system on the market, the rotating toe cord creates zero resistance throughout the stride. The toe cord works by dropping the tail as you pick up your snowshoe, allowing the snow to shed off the back and eliminate fatigue. The cord also creates maximum crampon penetration: as the tail drops, the nose of the snowshoe rises, allowing the toe crampon to fully grip the snow.

Fit-Step: Built to align your muscles, joints, and spine, Tubbs' women's Fit-Step biomechanical frame offers a slightly upturned, round tail that reduces muscular skeletal fatigue and promotes a natural stride.

6000 series aluminum frame: Lightweight and strong, the women's-specific 6000 series aluminum frame is extremely dependable, with a tapered shape that improves medial clearance to support a more natural and comfortable stride. The frame's ergonomic shape, meanwhile, supports an optimal float and balance, while the minimal weight reduces your overall fatigue after a couple of hours on the trail. The frame also includes Tubbs' proprietary ArcTec Plus decking, which is 30 percent more abrasion- and puncture-resistant than industry-leading ArcTec, with proven durability to -40 degrees F. The advanced sublimated and screen-printing processes also result in crisp, high-quality graphics.

Product Description

Excellent snoshoes January 5, 2011

I recommend these snowshoes for any woman who wants both quality, good return on investment, and ease of entry/exit for snowshoeing--novice or expert! I did extensive research before I purchased these snowshoes for my wife. I own a pair of the Wilderness 30" I bought last year and have used 30-40 times. These provide great grip on ice, which is especially important when you snowshoe with an 80lb Husky using a skijoring leash in the Colorado mountains! The terrain is diverse as can be the conditions as you climb in altitude--from slush to ice to powder. Great for trails and trail-breaking. I based my decision a lot on my own experience with my Tubbs Wilderness. The binding is well constructed, flexible and easy to step into, lock and tighten. My wife actually received a pair of Atlas snowshoes from a friend this year as well, after we had already gone snowshoeing with the Tubbs. The difference in construction and ease of fastening the binding was astounding when comparing the Tubbs to the Atlas. When you're outside a car in snow and wind, the faster you can get into the snowshoes and start moving is key to staying warm and having fun! She loves them. PS--Get the three-piece Tubbs poles and the Tubbs bag as well--great package!

I received my new TUBBS wilderness today and am delighted. After using older TUBB snowshoes and always having a hard time getting strapped-in, these bindings are so appreciated. On a side note, I 'moved-up ' to Wilderness instead of the model lower to get this binding (and also because the color is so much better than periwinkle + navy, which is this year's color). The name of the colors is rather confusing (mint?). They are a nice taupe and off white, with a light pink/taupe strap. I am going outside tomorrow when the sun is up and will report back if they are any less than perfect! (PS. Tubbs are the best of the best. They are durable, are lighter, the crampons don't flip all the way through, and are shaped for women.)

I purchased 8 pairs of Tubbs Wilderness snowshoes, plus sticks and backbags 3 years ago to keep at our Swiss mountain apartment, for our guests to use and for us too. We have various pairs of 30 length for the taller/heavier people, and 25's for ladies and/or teenagers. We went out today for a 6km hike at 1610m up to 1730m and found the shoes to be really excellent on the thick hard-packed ice on some of the trails. They are also great in deep powder snow, though sadly none of that to be found in the Alps this season. We went with another couple who did snowshoeing today for the first time, and they found the shoes very easy to learn to use, and very reliable on steep icy tracks. Would highly recommend Tubbs Wilderness.
