McCarty Does it Again!,

This review is from: Tucker's Claim (Hell's Eight Erotic Adventures) (Paperback)
I wasn't sure I'd like Tucker's Claim. I'm not sure why but the concept of a Quaker love interest with one of the Hell's Eight didn't seem far possible to me. McCarty once again made a believer out of me! Sallie is believable and it is very easy to crawl into her skin. I enjoyed the depth added to this story of pacifism versus the total cowboy/warrior idea of the old west. Once again the sex is smokin' and you can hear the bootsteps on the floor as she spins the scene. I read this book in two days and will have to do a re-read because the Hell's Eight editions cannot come out fast enough for me! Thank you Sarah for another GREAT read!

I really enjoyed this book. I think the chemistry between Tucker and Sally Mae is real and convincing. I know there has been some criticism about all the "thees" and truthfully, that can be annoying but after awhile I just automatically started inserting "you" or "your" when needed.
The "thees" are not a fatal flaw. This is still a 5 star book so don't let that stop you from getting this book. In my opinion, it is the best of the Hell's Eight series and second only to Promises Linger, which I think is Sarah McCarty's best book. Dena

Loved It!,
This review is from: Tucker's Claim (Hell's Eight Erotic Adventures) (Paperback)
I was also a little skeptical about the cowboy/quaker relationship but this story turned out to be one of the best from the Hell's Eight series. I felt like a fly on the wall reading the scenes. Tucker is one of those men women just love....a tall dark hunk with a fierce possessiveness of his woman and will do what it takes to make her happy. One of my most favorite scenes was when Sally Mae returned from picking up groceries and Tucker asks her if she got everything she needed. When she says "no", he asks, "what did you want, baby". I was a goner!!! The drawl and vividly written scenes transports you back in time. I like how Ms. McCarty keeps the rest of the Hell's Eight included in each book. And she does not disappoint with the erotic love scenes! Hot, hot, hotttttt!!!!! I can't wait to read the next one on Tracker. I bet he will be the one who finds Ari and falls in love with her.

I really could not take the authors constant use of Thee, and Thou. It was so annoying. It was a total distraction from the character's dialogue. Also, it made no sense that only one character spoke this way and everyone else spoke in completely modern English. I don't know what the author was thinking but I have never read anything this annoying in my entire life. I actually can't believe I finished it. I should get a medal for that feat. Get this one from the library if you can.

I had pre-ordered it and then was a bit discouraged when someone on a mailing list complained about the use of thee and thou and how Ms. McCartney got it wrong. I won't profess to being great with that sort of stuff, so I wasn't sure and to this day, I haven't been able to find out whether they were used in the correct form of not. I liked this book as much as Caine and Desi's and slightly better than Sam's - there is something about Sam's heroine who just irked me...the relationship development between Sally and Tucker was fairly true to life of how I would think a courtship in this case might happen and Ms McCartney touched on some heavy issues of the time. i am curious about the use of sex toys in the book and if they truely existed...can't wait for Tracker and Ari's book (which I believe is the next one)

Maybe I should have started out reading the first in this series. I just could not get excited about this book. I had a hard time believing that in those times people had that kind of a sexual relationship. Would have liked more action and fighting from Hell's Eight. Not sure I want to read another of this author's books.

Reading his was like be jerked out a sleep by a rope,
This review is from: Tucker's Claim (Mass Market Paperback)
Haven't been impressed with the books by this author, but I decided to give this author a second chance. Look, I love a good erotic story the same as the next guy, but I found the first 60 pages didn't work for me at all, so why finish it? The biggest problem was the writing itself. It was jarring, and at times convoluted with strange word combinations making the story hard to follow. If a reader has to reread sentences over and over to understand, the author didn't do their job. As for the story itself, the opening was boring as heck with a boatload of backstory. A real snooze. Second, the heroine acted and talked out of character by first being careful about her use of words even in her thoughts changing to naughty terms. Someone of her religious convictions doesn't just up and change her values. I saw a lot of useless chit-chat that didn't add to the story. And worst of all, the love they were making was corny. Again, I like burning hot love stories. This one didn't cut it for me.

I found one of these books about a month ago and fell in love with this series. Sarah McCarty is one of the best authors that I have read. I hate it that I have to wait for the other 4 books. I think Spice is putting them out 1 a year.
