Living history afloat,
By ian tarr (Europe) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Tudor Navy: The Ships, Men, and Organization, 1485-1603 (Hardcover)
An absorbing and enthralling read.A clever combination of in depth research into the construction and manning of fine ships and the parallel development of English Society and humour of the period. An insight into the development of the British navy under succesive Monarchs as the early foundations of the Empire were laid. The author proposes a lively and imaginative interpretation of the politics of the time as though he were embroiled. More from this author please.
