Very Honest Performance,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tuesday Afternoon (Audio CD)
I have rather diverse taste in music, but mostly enjoy the less popular forms of popular music, as opposed to what is considered to be true classical. There are contemporary composers and performers that I do consider have classic results, though. From Les Paul's early work in
designing a heavy instrument that would let the processing do the work to shape the tones, then multi track recording the same with equipment of his own design, to theatre organ performances by musicians such as Jelani Eddington, Walt Strony and George Wright, if a performer exhibits both technical skill as well as talent and presentation, I generally will enjoy the result. I am amazed and delighted by Mr Clef's arrangements and delivery. A very eclectic collection of music, with technique that reminds me of Chet Atkins in his examples of Spanish and jazz capabilities. In the case of Mr. Atkins, though, he had so many resources available in the way of accompaniment and editing that many of his recordings, while having the skill and talent be very evident, were also a tour-de-force of his studio and session musicians. In the case of Tuesday Afternoon, although I know a LOT of work was done in the studio, ultimately, the performances are all clean and dry, dry in the sense of no obvious editing, compression, equalization or any other techniques to "enhance" the sound. This, to me, results in the best sound of all! The result, a CD to demonstrate the high fidelity capabilities of one's playback equipment, along with great music.

So glad I discovered him.,

I discovered Clef on Youtube a few months ago, and was shocked at a few of the covers he produced. He breathes new life into old songs, has fantastic taste on what he covers, and is something of a bastard in that he makes one despondent at the idea of guitar practice. I swear, I'd think he had three hands if I hadn't seen the videos.I forgive you, Mr.Clef. Just keep being your impressive self, and I'll keep listening!
