Book Description

August 14, 2009
This book is a love letter that will open hearts that pain and grief have closed. It is important reading for anyone who has lost a child, or loves someone who has. Bless these fathers and their sons and daughters. Their deeply moving stories demonstrate the sun rises even on the darkest night. - Anne Ryder, Speaker, Former NBC-affiliate (WTHR) News Anchor The death of a son or daughter feels like a cosmic injustice, an agony many dads suffer in silence and isolation. But the stories of these courageous dads show that grappling with grief together can bring hope and healing, even amidst life's deepest sorrows. - John Wimmer, PhD, Program Director, Religion, Lilly Endowment Inc. These Hoosier dads, joined together by the thread of shared tragedies and grief, have opened their hearts to the rest of us. Woven together, the quilt of their stories offers warmth and hope of survival to fathers with shared experiences and those who love them. - Lanny Berman, PhD, ABPP, Executive Director, American Association of Suicidology Their greatest fear became their reality. Their child has died. Each dad's courage to share his grief helps to create a circle of hope for themselves and everyone who reads Tuesday Mornings with the Dads. - Helene M. Cross, President and CEO, Fairbanks Hospital, Indianapolis

This is a very special story by a group of fathers who have come together to find their way thru the loss of their children. Each story unique and personal with a common thread of the loss of a loved one and their courageous journey thru grief.

5.0 out of 5 stars must read for hurting dads, October 19, 2009

Purchased the book because I knew one of the Dad's. Gave it to a father that had lost a son in a car wreck. Think it is a must read for any Dad who has lost a child. Also made me aware that healing takes forever and to be sensitive to families that have experienced this type of loss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good to read, even if you haven't lost your own child., September 24, 2009
By
Loving Mommy (Indianapolis, IN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tuesday Mornings With the Dads (Paperback)
A friend gave this book to me because he's one of the fathers in the book. I read it in one sitting, touched by the stories of people I've never met. I have two very close friends who have lost children - I have not lost a child - and I immediately sent a copy of the book to each of them. It's impossible to know the "right" thing to say to a friend who's experiencing something you can't imagine, so sharing this book is my way of putting my friends in touch with someone who actually can imagine what they're experiencing. Thanks to the authors for putting your pain into words that can help others.
