Everything about this CD is fulfilling to a music lover who appreciates the "REAL DEAL". Abenna's soulful voice and her profound lyrics take you on an emotional musical journey. This is a CD you will play again and again and you will still discover something new each time.

How do you...,
By Honey (Heaven) - See all my reviews

Put her into one category? It's very difficult to pigeon whole her and her music because its just so solid and so good, yet it defies a label. When you listen to her, think warm breezes, clear azure water and trees baring ripe fruit....she's that vivid!
Although, this Cd is a few years old, it is still worth the investment. You can clean to it, chill out with it, take long drives by it or simply soak in the hot tub and contemplate life.

Heard "Song 4 U" on radio in NYC,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tuesday's Child (Audio CD)
When I heard this song, I couldn't believe I was hearing something so beautiful, melodic, and lyrical on the radio. This singer has a voice, knows how use it as an instrument, and uses a great score to back up her vocals. Amazing singer! I have read nothing about her and she is not in rotation anywhere in video form. Shame on the music industry. She puts all of today's so-called singers to shame.

This CD is amazing!!! If this was released in 2000, then she is surely ahead of her time. I cannot believe that this is a debut Cd...So many good songs on it. You would think that this was a chick Cd but it is much more...Anyone who can write such great songs and then cover Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to heaven" and make it all her own, deserves respect. In a climate where mediocrity rules, it is only a matter of time before she is a megastar. It has been a long time since I have felt this way about an artist. But good music, like good food takes time! I highly recommend this. I hear so many influences that it is hard to say...maybe she's multi-talented like a JoniMitchell with an infectious vibe reminiscent of a SADE but with straight to the heart lyrics like a JamesTaylor or TraceyChapman...She truly feels like an original...

New Music at it's Best!,
By Sharon Bovell (Rahway, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tuesday's Child (Audio CD)
I heard a portian of this album while on a Delta flight recently and fell in love with it. I've been searching all over for the cd to buy as christmas presents for my friends and family as well as myself. When the song Rain came on, it was familiar and I liked it from hearing it on local radio but never knew the artist. If the four songs I heard while on my flight an incline of the rest of the album, consider me her biggest fan.

I got this disc after seeing her video for SONG FOR YOU. This is one of my favorite tracks with its great melody & simplistic vocals. I don't listen to the radio and it's hard to get any buzz or info about an artist such as Abenaa because her music isn't considered "mainstream".
Abenaa's music is hard to classify but if I had to compare this disc to one in recent memory, it'd be Rhiann Benson's. Abenaa isn't a powerhouse vocalist but she does have a pleasant voice that shines more on the tracks that are sparely produced with just her singing and a piano or guitar accompanying; on tracks that have a lot more going on musically, her voice tends to get drowned out. The disc is really short - clocked in at less than an hour but each song is distinctly individual and will keep the listener interested. The tracks that stood out to me are: SIMPLE LIFE - loved the guitar riffs on this track, unlike anything I've heard SONG FOR YOU - beautiful love song RAIN & IF I TELL YOU GOD MADE YOU - an upbeat inspirational song I'd recommend this disc to those who like unconventional singer/ songwriters and live music production.

I never even heard of this woman until I was in a store and saw her video for "Simple Life". I got the whole album and found it to be mostly interesting. Abenaa is a great singer and sings about love and inspiration, but the production leaves a lot to be desired. Though this album was released in 2000, such dated rhythms like the drum fill-ins to "If I Tell You" sound so generic that one may wonder when this album really was made. On the good side, the production on "Journey", "Simple Life", and "god made you" are excellent. You should get this CD if you like that neo-soul/folk type of thing.

I am new to Abenna and her talent. I heard "Song 4 You" and fell in love with it. Her voice is gentle and soothing. I jumped online immediately to buy it and I am anxiously awaiting it. Abenna has tremendous talent and should not be overlooked. I do see where Vanessa Williams got some of her style from. Abenna emotes strong emotion in her voice and comes across so genuine. I feel her emotion. Isn't that what every artist wants a listener to do? ACHEIVED Abenna. I have been listening to her CD online. I am truly thankful for artists like Abenna. Her music touches a very deep place in my heart.
Thank you. |
