5.0 out of 5 stars Good for humans too
Tuf foot is a great product in my opinion. I've been through several bottles of this during training. My method for application is simple and effective. Buy a empty spray bottle and a bottle of isopropyl alcohol (aka rubbing alcohol). I fill the spray bottle with a 5/1 ratio mix of Tuf foot and alcohol. The addition of the alcohol is simply to dilute the Tuf foot mixture...

2.0 out of 5 stars tuff foot
I bought this for my terrier mix to toughen up her feet for our winter walks. I did not notice any difference in her paw pads. I started applying this in October so that by the time winter hit, her paws would have the full benefit of the product. Her paws were still very sensitive to the cold weather and pavement. In my opinion, this product did nothing for my dogs paws.

The addition of the alcohol is simply to dilute the Tuf foot mixture to make it last a little longer. The spray bottle method is MUCH better than using cotton swabs, spilling it on your foot, or any other method. The benefits are; you get better coverage with less product, you don't get it on your hands, it's faster, and it gets in-between the toes easier. I suggest using it twice a day, for the first week to two weeks (depending on how tough your feet are already). Once a day is good after that. I apply before bed, and after my post morning workout shower. If you use it twice a day there might be a slight change in skin tone. It's not ugly or permanent. Tuf foot will NOT toughen your feet to leather, only hard miles in your shoes/boots will do that, but it sure helps. Word of caution: This stuff smells! Do not apply in your house (even in the bathtub) Go outside, sit down with your feet in the air, spray it on, and let it dry. Good luck.

FYI: There are different bottle labels for Tuf-foot, as long as it's by the same company the label doesn't matter, you may use it on humans.

I purchased this product because my greyhound has "tender" feet. I live in an apartment so I don't have a yard for my dogs to run around it. Consequently we walk a lot on concrete sidewalks or hike on rocky trails. I wanted something to make it less painful for my greyhound. He had no open wounds or sores on his feet. He just walked like the sidewalks were rough to him. After only a week of putting Tuffoot on his pads (once a day at first) I could TELL A DIFFERENCE in how he was walking! Now I put the stuff on every other day. He does not lick his feet to get it off.

ADDED BENEFIT--This winter we had lots of snow and people put out lots of salt. I started my Tuffoot regimen in the middle of the snow season and I also noticed a difference in how sensitive his feet are to salt. Since I have two dogs I couldn't see putting boots on them every time we walked. Tuffoot made such a difference that they no longer have pain from salt.

Love this stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars TUF on tender feet, November 16, 2010

So, I know... the title of this review is corny... but it's true! This product works great for all three of our pups. Initially we bought this for our Catahoula who is prone to getting cracks in his pads. We applied nightly for about a week after we noticed the crack... usually from him licking at it constantly. The cracking only reoccurred maybe 2 or 3 more times after finding TUF-FOOT. Each time we treated it the same way... used a cotton ball with a couple drops of TUF-FOOT... and voila!... cured! Our pound puppy and Ridgeback also benefit from this product... their pads would just get rough occasionally. After using TUF-FOOT, all the pads at our place are in great condition! It is a dark brown color, but we have had no problem with staining... not our countertops, tile, vinyl flooring, or light colored carpet. And, the pups don't mind it at all! The price and shipping price are worth it... this really does work great. It can be used for 'all domestic animals and humans'. Also, they offer 'money refunded if not satisfied'... but I'm pretty sure you will be!

5.0 out of 5 stars Poor Dog Got Blown-Out Foot Pads When He Ran!!, July 28, 2011

Our dog likes to run alongside while we pedal away on the bicycle, but after one such run, we noticed he had blown out a couple of pads on the bottom of his feet. We felt terrible about it, and immediately ordered Tuf-Foot online after reading glowing testimonies. While we waited for the product to arrive, our dog rested up. And all we can say now is: Thank You! We dab some Tuf-Foot on his pads before every run and no more problem; healthy tuff feet now, pads are in great shape. EZ to use, just be careful to put down newspaper first, as this solution does stain. Great product, great price!

4.0 out of 5 stars So helpful, but a little messy., February 3, 2011

This review is from: Tuf-Foot - 8 oz (Misc.)
My dog has a terrible time with dry and cracked paws. He only has three feet, so he can't limp to keep off one if it's hurting. It took us a while to find out about them, but once we did, research proved this to be the best product. It has done wonders for his paws! They stay nice and hydrated year-round with regular use of this product.
Unfortunately, I did have some issues with it. It was very difficult and messy to apply. While it does dry quickly, there was no good way to apply it without making a mess. It also stains if it happens to spill. At First I just tried dripping it on, but it was inaccurate and didn't cover some of the problem areas on the paws. Next I used a cotton swab, but it absorbed it too much and the cotton would get torn on the dry bits of his paw pad. Finally i used a small bit of sponge. This finally worked, but i had to keep it with the product and off any surfaces (staining). It was a wonderful product, but the stench filled up the area where i kept the sponge.
I would reccomend it to any animal owner with the same problems, but with caution.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helped dogs cracked pads, March 1, 2008
This review is from: Tuf-Foot - 8 oz (Misc.)
The dog had cracked pads which had begun to bleed. They were cracking from all the salt on the roads. Once we began using the Tuf-Foot the pads stopped bleeding and have begun to heal. The dog has also stopped licking the pads all the time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful for finger tips, September 15, 2010

Purchased this to help toughen up my fingertips while learning to play the ukulele.
I've used it about ten times and it seems to be working pretty well.
Pour some in a bowl and soak your fingertips for a few minutes and then let them dry.
Practice is still what builds good hard fingertips, use this if you need that little extra help!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for dog's feet, February 22, 2008
This review is from: Tuf-Foot - 8 oz (Misc.)
My lab tends to get cracks on her paw pads. I use this product whenever she starts licking her paws a lot, it seems to really work. Usually for 3 or 4 days in a row, then she's a lot better. I dab it on, it dries fast and seems to do the trick.
