Not as good,

Not as good as chugga chugga choo choo, which both of my kids love. The pictures are just as good, but the text is not as dynamic.

My one year old son's favorite, by far!,
This review is from: Tugga-Tugga Tugboat (Board book)
We lOVE this book! We haven't read the other Lewis/Kirk books, so don't have them to compare, but on its own this book has been an all time favorite in our house! Tugga tugga tug boat, push and pull and float boat...I think I have all of the words memorized! The words are simple and very appropriate for toddlers. I just wish it came in board book form so I could let my one year old look at the book without my close supervision. So, if some say this book isn't nearly as good as the other Lewis/Kirk books, then we look forward to reading those as well!

One of my son's favorites,
This review is from: Tugga-Tugga Tugboat (Hardcover)
I am dismayed to see that this book does not have a 5-star average rating on amazon. This is one of my one-year-old son's absolute favorites - the story is darling (for me, even more endearing than the better-known "Chugga Chugga Choo Choo" by the same author). The book follows a heroic little tugboat as it goes about its daily tasks - moving barges, hauling cargo, etc. Slowly, as you proceed through the story, rubber ducks and bars of soap start appearing among the more realistic maritime imagery. In the end, it turns out the tugboat is a beloved bath toy of a little boy who returns to play with it night after night in the tub.
I love these books by Kevin Lewis and Daniel Kirk. They perfectly capture the incredible power of young imaginations and the sincere joy found in childhood play. Young readers will love the beautiful colorful images and the repetitive sounds ("toot-toot" and "scoot-scoot"). And most adults will find this book very well-written and easy-to-read and will find the story incredibly touching.

We liked My Truck Is Stuck and Chugga Chugga Choo-Choo a lot better probably because the wording in this story seems so stilted and doesn't flow as well as in those two previous works.

My son's first language is Polish. At age 3, he is starting to learn English. This is a perfect book for reading in English for him. He already knows entire book by heart. For a while, we have been reading it every night before bed. At the beginning he was so excited about the tugboat and big tanker scheme that he started to draw tankers and tugboats. We bought a used book for ~5$ (including shipping) and received a book that looked completely new.

We LOVE Kevin Lewis's books, and this is our favorite. The rhymes are great, the illustrations are colorful, and this particular one has such an adorable "surprise" ending that it makes me smile every time. Our six month old stares at me with a fascinated look on his face when I'm reading this book because the rhythm of the rhymes is so captivating.
Buy this book. And "My Truck Is Stuck". You will love them as much as your kids do.

Very cute book. My kids ask me to read it over and over. Cute text with bright illustrations. We bought this after owning and loving Chugga Chugga Choo Choo.

This is really cute. My 3 yr. old son likes this book a lot. The pages are nicely illustrated and colorful. The wording is simple and it rhymes. My son also likes the "surprise ending".

Fun story and great images,

My 5-month old son loves this book as it introduces him to new words and dockyard scenes (not the typical animal books for this age). The colors are fun and I like that the images reflect a diverse range of people. The story ends back at home in the tub with mom so it is cleverly relates back to his little world.

This is an excellent book! We bought it for our son, but soon after our daughter was born and now she just adores it. It is fun to read too. The illustrations are beautiful and repetitive so I can ask my girl where things like the rubber duckie and the buoy are on several pages and she points to them. We bought this before knowing about Chugga Chugga Choo Choo and absolutely love it!
