4.0 out of 5 stars Prop wash!
Not being that literal minded, but having an understanding of tugs...I generally liked the book. The unassuming prose coupled with the excellent photos, makes this a palletable coffee table read. The author needs to match his captions with his photos, though.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Almost-Ultimate Coffee-Table Book on Tugs
Big. Gorgeous photos. A broad-brush treatment of tugboats by a wriiter who has done a lot of research. Highly recommended for the reader who is interested in learning something about tugboats. But not recommended for those that already know tugboating except those willing to accept the book's flaws. Too many errors and omissions. Photo captions are often incorrect or...

Photo captions are often incorrect or missing. Coverage of tugboats is spotty, emphasizing one company and missing much of what goes on in tugboating elsewhere in the world. I bought the book and like it in spite of its flaws, but wish it were better.

Didn't do a thing for me. Not enough variety, and not enough about the Columbia/Snake River boats and their jobs. Here's a concept...why not have somebody who KNOWS what they're talking about, write about tugs. Hmmmmmmmmm, I'd buy that one too!
