Product Description

From the creators of NodeBeat comes Tunable, the most intuitive visual toolkit for musicians.

Tunable is a chromatic tuner, tone/chord generator, metronome, and recorder that helps you learn to play steadily, in tune, and on beat. Featuring a unique “tuning history” display for visualizing pitch over time, Tunable is the perfect toolkit for beginning to professional musicians.

Learn to play in tune with sustained pitch history
Visualize how steadily you play or sing. As notes are held out, a white line draws how steady the pitch is. The straighter the line, the more consistent the pitch.

Improve your ear with tone and chord generator
Need a reference tone or chord? Use the tone and chord generator to play and sustain chords with various tone options. Choose from different temperaments to hear how they compare.

Keep tempo with an accurate and simple metronome
See the pulse with a visual metronome. View subdivision and current beat, with a large display and visual flash.

Record and share
Record your practice and performances. Add reverb for a professional sound. Share recordings through e-mail, SoundCloud, Dropbox and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Game changer September 13, 2013

This tuner does SO many things SO well... I still use my strobe tuner, but that's because of a limitation on my tablet, NOT the tuner.

I play low notes. Low notes are hard to get enough samples to report quickly. In spite of that, on a Galaxy Note 10.1 this software get reasonable response down a couple octaves below the bass clef. I do find, though, that my strobe tuner with a clip-on microphone settles a bit faster (i.e. before I run out of air to sustain the note steadily.)

But that is almost beside the point. The selection and use of intonation BESIDE equal temperament is nothing short of fabulous! For example, if I want to work on just intonation in the key of F, setting that basis is as easy as double tapping a clearly marked letter on the main screen. Then I can play drones from the tuner, tune against them, and compare what my ear thinks is right against what the meter "thinks." And the tight thirds WILL match between my ear and the tuner.

If I then wish to switch to Bb, I just double tap again and I'm already on my way.

With the metronome and "mini-recorder" this is more of a practice session manager than just a tuner. I use it just about every day, and can show the improvements... via recordings from the tool :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Set the microphone sensitivity before playing! March 31, 2013
BEAUTIFUL tuner. The blacks, pinks, and green look awesome on my screen. Two things I'd recommend is to 1) use headphones if you're going to use the metronome, and then 2) play with the microphone sensitivity before getting further into it.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Tuner November 20, 2013

Definitely my favorite tuner app, a must have for musicians. Don't forget to adjust the settings before using.

Pros:
+ Great UI
+ Tuner Works
+ Ability to Listen to a Note Before Playing It
+ Metronome
+ No Advertisements
+ No Invasive Permissions
+ Free (today)

Cons:
- ?

Definitely give this app a try if you are looking for a decent tuner. If you are a musician, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Update: When I reviewed this app it was free, but $1.95 isn't bad for this app. I still recommend it.

I have tried many tuners and this is my new favorite. Tuning is a breeze. I really like how you can hear the note you are going to be tuning to. Simple but awesome interface. Worth every penny.

You will definatly like this tuner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Astounding! Tested and it works quite well! November 20, 2013

I just tested this for accuracy alongside a strobe tuner and a Korg digital tuner. l tested 4-string bass, guitar and checked against a Yamaha keyboard. Spot on in all cases! Enough said! This is impressive!!

The metronome also works as advertised and so does the recorder... and that is just gravy. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent all-in-one tool for musicians November 20, 2013
By Rocman

This is a very powerful all-in-one tool for musicians, combining a tuner, metronome and recorder into one single app. I did a comparison test with my Korg tuner and a fender strat and jazz bass. The tuner in this app was spot on compared to the Korg - very impressive! The accuracy alone is worth the price of admission in my opinion. All the additional features - tuning history, tone selection, metronome, recorder - are all extra icing on the cake.

The three required permissions are minimal - record audio (pretty obvious), read and write to external storage (most likely for the recorder function). There are no other add-ons - no Flurry or google analytics!

I think the $1.99 price is fair, and it's absolutely a steal as today's free app of the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a good tuner app with a lot of features! November 20, 2013
Verified Purchase
This tuning app works well and it is a nice addition to have a built in metronome. I like how the metronome flashes the screen and changes the color while it puts out the rhythm. You get the visual beat notification as well as the audio beat which you may not hear while you are playing. On the tuner you can change the wave of the note and also tell the unit to use the note sustain mode. You can adjust the tone by setting a triangle wave, sine wave, square wave and a saw wave.

The microphone in and recording mode doesn’t work on the Kindle Fire as there is no audio input on that device. There is a detailed setting screen that you can use to optimize the app to your needs. It is well designed and the user interface is easy to learn and use.

This is a good app and it is useful for musicians and students although beginners will need a little training to learn how to use it.
