Editorial Reviews

Tuner Heat is a blazing recap featuring the cream-of-the-crop bass joints from Neurodisc recording artist Bass Freq picked by the fans. Main man Neil Case is the production wizard behind the Bass Freq moniker; bringing up the bass guns with 15 years of bone shaking expertise. Leading the cutting edge of tuner car audio; Bass Freq's massive bass drops, sweeps and tones rumble any sound-system with massive low end digital thunder; created by unique software specifically for sonic bass waves. Bass Freq's sound is a mash-up of reggae dub, hip-hop and breakbeat; twisted on the bass tip. Tuner Heat is a collection of Bass Freq's top downloaded songs, picked by the fans, to power their car audio systems. This is not a fad; this is culture. Street culture. Bass culture. 2006.

My reviewer Kris had this to say for Djfix/Raves.com:

"Tuner Heat" is a best-of type comp of Bass Freq tracks as chosen by fans. Neil Case, bass freq producer, has been working his thumps for over 10 years, and the first track hints at this with its references to 80s style techno. "Rok Dat Bass" also features aggressive old school hip-hop touches, as well. "Kool Hertz" comes off with kewl melodies and nice electronic and percussive textures; quite the absorbing number. Very terrific. "Big System" is definitely rooted in hip-hop, conjuring up massive headbobbing grooves and computery vocal samples. "Droppin Hood" boasts deliberately spartan production and laid back stoned grooves to cruise to. "Kool Whip" is very oriented on percussive textures and features a funked out melody line; totally cool. "Chillah B" is dark and a tad spacey with big mid-tempo grooves and Thomas Newmanish melody hintings. If you get a ride on the "Ryde Shaker," you'll hear atmospheric audio via its psy twinge, with infectious grooves to drive ya along. And "Neon Knights"hits it with some techno-hop proceedings, while "Crunkwerk" fuses new wavish melody into its bassyness and has some nice, lovely textures. "Bump Chek" fo sho' takes us back to the a couple decades ago and "Lollapop Drop" heads for smooth jazz soul soundings. (I dig this one.) "Smooth Roller" drops in some organic guitarwork with the modern soul-hop flavor and is another strong track. "Bounce 2 Dis" applies almost trance-ish melodies though without the trance beat; interesting. We end with "Gig-A-Low Crunk," which is appropriately hip-hop in attitude. "Tuner Heat" is a pretty good effort though I don't think it's quite up to what I'd want from what is a best-of comp.
