5.0 out of 5 stars WORKS AS ADVERTISED, May 20, 2010
This review is from: Tuneup Utilities (3-User) (CD-ROM)
I was a little skeptical to buy this product but after reading many favorable reviews on various websites I decided to give it a try. The format is simple and very intuitive so the learning curve takes all of 5 minutes. This software digs deep into areas of your computer that would otherwise be very time consuming & complex to do on your own. It does increase speed and optimize your internet connection by eliminating unnecessary start-up programs and fine tuning other programs. The only conflict that I am finding is the registry cleaner. On my first scan it found 79 problems. This perplexed me because I have been using Registry Mechanic (its only function) for many years which does an excellent job of scanning and keeping the registry clean. When scanning with TuneUp Utilities it finds numerous problems which Registry Mechanic has already corrected. Then when I run Registry Mechanic it finds many problems that TuneUp supposedly corrected. Grrrr. A software conflict that really is no big deal. Bottom Line: TuneUp does so many things well it is worth the money. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beats Norton Utilities hands down, July 25, 2010
This review is from: Tuneup Utilities (3-User) (CD-ROM)
My combination is Tune Up Utilities 2010 and Norton Internet Security 2010. I just discovered "Turbo Mode" in Tune Up Utilities 2010 and WOW. This software is easy to use, intuitive, and really will keep your system optimized and running smoothly. As a computer user since 1983, I would highly recommend this product. It works as advertised and is worth every penny.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and Easy to Use, March 18, 2010

This is the best product of its class that I've found. The interface is not just simple to use, it is actually fun to use. The interface is very efficient and easy to maneuver around. It is extremely powerful in the sense that you can really get "under the hood" and mess around with the system, but it is also relatively safe - it is easy to back out and restore things if you overdo it and delete some component or capability of your system inadvertantly.

The only thing I had that was sort of a negative was a problem registering the trial version of the software. I received the free version on line with the option to upgrade to the paid version. When the time came, I decided to pay on line but the company apparently had issues with my physical address (I'm in Iraq with the Army) not matching my billing address. I ended up having to come to Amazon to buy the software. (I should have just been able to do it on-line.) No big deal in the long-run. I wanted the physical disks anyway and the price was the same.

First I installed it. Everything went well their. Next I ran it's 1click maintenece, then everything went down hill from their. Tried to open firefox wouldn't respond. Tried to open IE8, nope didn't work either. Tried everything I could think of to fix it. Troublshouted, unplugged modem and plugged it back in. I had a internet connection but nothing would work. So I turned off my PC but nothing happens. I try again still nothing! So I manually shut it down. Turned it back on an ran in safe mode. Still nothing is wanting to work. I had to do a clean install of windows7 just to get my PC running again. So after about five hours of getting everything back the way I had it. I came here printed out a return slip, put it back in the box it came in, and sent it away.
Tuneup Utilities is not worth a penny in my opionin. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I wouldn't even recomend trieng the free trial. It just might mess up your PC to.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed, September 20, 2010
This review is from: Tuneup Utilities (3-User) (CD-ROM)
Wow, what a dissapointment. I read the reviews and had to have the product. I ran the product and did all the suggested changes. I bought the product to improve performance. All went well until I rebooted and now my laptop won't boot at all. I am going to have to do a full restore. Please back up everything before using this product. Just an FYI. Be careful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just great software to use., April 22, 2010

I had the 2007 TuneUp Utilities version on my old computer that I was very happy with.
I did not have TuneUp Utilities installed on my main computer running XP Professional that I'm currently using.
Suddenly out of the blue this computer developed some very serious problems,
I don't know what happened, I was kind of dead in the water.
I bought the 2010 Tuneup Utilities was able to install it, and ran it on my disabled computer.
The program found over 850 problems that it repaired, and now my computer is working as it should.
I also appreciate the way it Defragments my hard drive.
I run the program every few days, just to have it clean up the computer, it does it's job.

4.0 out of 5 stars TuneUp did the job, July 19, 2010

I have an older desktop that has been slow for a while. I have tried tuning it up myself a few times but my computer was only a little better and only for a little while. TuneUp did the job w/o me having to think about it. All you do is answer a few questions and the program does the rest. My computer runs pretty well now and is way more usable than it's been in a long time. The best part is that TuneUp stays on the case so the machine keeps running pretty well. TuneUp is excellent and the Amazon price was fantastic considering how well it works.

I used it a few weeks ago on 3 computers that I had planned to replace - 2 laptops and one desktop. I did not read the instructions, but had remembered a few things from reading the reviews. At first it didn't seem to do much, but I remembered from the reviews that there is a single button in there that lets it run automatically -- the turbo button. Pressed that one button and in less than 30 minutes each computer was practically new again. Really fantastic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product - Delivers As Stated, December 23, 2010

I'm using a 4yr-old Gateway desktop pc with a windows xp/vista capable operating system. It was working fine using Microsoft's "One" computer protection/optimization program until they stopped carrying the product last year. I am using another anti-viral/attack protection program now, but it doesn't have any tune-up/optimizing capabilities. I've seen a definate decline over the past year in my computer's operating speed at startup, loading programs and using/surfing the internet -especially viewing video content, music, etc.... I took a chance on this one based on many favorable reviews from various sources and that it works with WindowsXP, Vista and 7.
This program was just the ticket! It loaded and worked on my computer without any trouble/problems and has definately restored it to optimal operating condition :) No lagging/buffering watching netflix, hulu, etc... Most of the fixes were done instantly with the 1-click optimzer and gives you plenty of other ways to finetune and even backout if it's not what you want/like.
The only ding I can think of is that this is a 2009-1010 version and the website that's listed in the manual to access helpful tips, FAQ, information, etc... doesn't exist any more. But websearch did find a new site at www.tune-up.com that is available. It covers mostly 2011 version stuff.
Overall - I am very pleased with this product.

I have win cleaner and pc tune up. I can tell that PC tune up is better than win cleaner. After 1st try, my computer runs like new again.
