If I could have only one book on BMC-A series motors, this would be it! I also have David's earlier book, "How to Hotrod Your Mini". This book contains the essential content of "How to Hotrod Your Mini" and much more. I have found the book valuable for component selection as well as technique. It is clear David does extensive research for his books. In addition to the vast technical content, this book is easy to read. Buy it, read it cover to cover and you will refer to it as long as you play with these motors.

Altho the book is focused on the A-series motor, and there are appropriate disclaimers to avoid applying the information to any other Brit motor, the Book is replete with mounds of valuable generic information about vintage & scca racing & performance mods applicable to other than A-series motors that any MG owner or TR owner can profit by, such as how to degree a cam

Very comprehensive and if you want to upgrade the performance of your A-series engine, then this is the book to do it with.

Anyone who owns a car with A-Series engine needs this book. Extremely detailed and full of information, from basic to extremely technical.

A very usefull book for engine builders. I sat and read through 90% of the book and agree with others who call this great, however...
For the casual engine builder it is probably not so useful as for a person who builds and races. I was hoping for more tips and tricks for a beginner engine builder like me. There is information I can use, but Vizzard assumes the reader is a seasoned builder. As someone else mentioned, the layout is a challenge, as the captions and text kinda run together. The book is chocked full of page after page of dyno-testing as flow-bench readings. Vizzard is very meticulous, and talented.

Fantastic book, and gets better every edition. Hard reading at first, but if you keep going back to it as a reference you'll wonder how you did without it. Some of the brands and models of aftermarket parts mentioned during tests are no longer available, which is a shame. Definitiely a value-for-money book.

I have a 1979 B/L Mini 1000. I found this book a little too technical for my taste. I know once I get into the timing and carburator mixtures it will be a huge blessing, but anyone needing to take apart or put together an A Series engine, the better one for that information is the Haynes Manual which I also bought on Amazon.com.

This is a superb book. A must for anyone wishing to improve the power or reliability of their BMC A series engine. I am a BMC A enthusiast and this is the second time I have bought this book 20 years ago for my road going Sprite and now for my 1960 Formula Junior racing car.

This is the bible for any engine builer or enthusiast. Great instructions, great ideas, great detail, great result when followed to the tee. Vizard is brilliant. Buy it

Vizard's book is an excellent resource for anyone interested in anything from basic performance/economy to all out race setups for an A series engine. Lots of detailed information backed up by hands on dyno and track testing by the author. My only complaint is the text layout is a little difficult to follow with the images and captions, but once you get a feel for his writing and layout style it is easier to follow.

It's a veritable bible for anyone trying to scrape even just a couple of horsepower out of an A-Series.
My 33 year old 1275 motor can now do things the factory never intended, it's excellent!
Any A-Series owner needs this book.
