Tuning In To My Child's Future: A Road Map for Career Exploration and Success is a three book set that helps parents help their middle school or early high school child think about and plan for a fufilling future. For the student there's the Student Workbook which contains an assessment that helps match students with compatible jobs and educational pathways while providing them with the self knowledge, career exploaration and planning foundations needed for making a lifetime of self-satisfying career and school decisions. For parents, there's the Parent Guide and Implementation Guide. The Implementation Guide helps them help their children through the assessment process. The Parent Guide provides the background and additional material and resources needed to help guide students from 6th grade through the high school years.

About the Author
The "Tuning In" Student and Implementation Guides were developed by teachers and guidance counselors from the Miami Valley Career Technology Center in Clayton, Ohio, to help students learn more about the world of work. The original documents were created for a school environment. Over 270,000 student guides have been sold to schools since 1992. In 1998 the Parent Guide was created to help parents help their children plan for success.

Tuning In was fun to do with my child. I learned about what was going on in his mind about his future. Like most teens, he has many talents and interests, but we wanted to learn what specific careers would use those talents. By using Tuning In and completing the exercises and job shadowing experiences it recommended, we made some decisions about career areas. The program has also been a great tool for communication. The best part is that my son actually enjoyed doing the exercises, too, and grew more confident about talking to adults about their careers. I sure wish I had had something like this when I was growing up.
