Tunnel Rats Got It Like That,
By
This review is from: Tunnel Vision (Audio CD)
Man, I can't believe how bangin this CD is. Stillmatic was my favorite CD of the moment until I got a hold of this album. Appareantly, the producer for the TR goes to the college I went to. But a friend of mine knows the guy and came back home with two advance copies of the album. I had never heard of them though. So the CD that my friend brought back for me sat on my desk for about three weeks before I finally decided to give it a listen. For some reason, I did not expect much good music, but I was really surprised from the get go! All of the emcees are on point with their rhymes. The beats are all slamming. There are only a couple interludes, which aren't too long, and also the female emcees fit in very nicely on every track they spit on. On "Ladies" they definitely hold their own over a very nice and smooth beat. They have the perfect mix of sexy and rough at the same time. And what really tripped me out was when I finally noticed that this was Christian rap! Not a cuss word on the album and I didn't even notice because this album is just superbly put together. ...... Peace...1 luv.....

Why Do The Best Artists Always Get Slept On?!?!,

Man I don't know what it is.It seems like all the "Great Ones" get slept on.This is certainly the case with the Tunnel Rats. Everything about this project is solid. The music, lyrics, their delivery, the mix of different styles,it's all tight.Even down to the cover! The overall quality of album is pretty amazing considering they're on some indie label who's yet to put out anything that can stand up against the majors. Nowadays when I buy a CD I'm happy if I get 4 or 5 songs that I REALLY feel. Damn near every song is tight on this piece! The illest part is no 2 songs really sound the same.East,West? It don't even matter. It's just dope. There's something for everybody too.I even caught MY MOM vibin' to some of the more soulful joints like "2 Cents" and the hidden remix of "Chainge"!!!My personal favorite is the complex "Motivate" where that kid Raphi bounces all over this ill ass track.I can't wait to see what his solo album is gonna sound like.Just trust me folks, you want Tunnel Vision. With 22 tracks, you won't be dissappointed. Wake up ya'll!!!

What else can I say. The Tunnel Rats hit you with music with a message, purpose, vision, and annointing. The foundation: Jesus Christ. The foundation for mainstream rap today: hedonism. This product exhibits some of the best lyricism and production that rivals the best of hip-hop albums past and present. From Sev Statik to New Breed to LPG to Raphi and Zane - everyone who touched the mic on this production ripped it! And you thought that holy hip-hop was soft - listen to "2 Cents," "One's Who Do," and "One's Who Don't" and then talk to me. T.R.'z proclaim the name of Christ and His values with all the talent and ability that you've NEVER witnessed...It never leaves my 12 disc!

hip hop at its best,
By pb (UK) - See all my reviews

I got this album after hearing the opening track, which impressed me lots. I have been a fan of hip hop for a few years, but prefer old school stuff like Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa and Run DMC. The Tunnel Rats are the first new school stuff I've got, and I got to say they have the skills needed to improve the Christian hip hop scene. Great lyrical skills are displayed by all MCs, Big respect to The Tunnel Rats.

THE BEST CD I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!,

When I was commin' up I was surrounded by hip-hop, but truthfully ya'll everybody I heard from back in the day was only concerned about self. I don't need to say any names because all you have to do is turn on your radio's hip-hop station and chances are you'll hear who i'm talkin' about. And all of the sudden, out of the fog from the deepest part of the underground emerges a ray of light. This is by far the best music cd I have ever heard! The TR "set the par", while they stay focused on the mission. If you want a good cd buy this one, but beware, I just went to the store to buy another cd and the TR were in my deck and I didn't even open the new cd to to replace the TRPEACE, AND MUCH LOVE IN JESUS' NAME, YA"LL

A Collision of Two Worlds . . .,

Praise and worship and Hip-Hop collide to create this masterpiece entitled Tunnel Vision by The Tunnel Rats. First of all, this CD is not to be taken lightly. True Hip-Hop headz will appreciate the underground feel of the production and the masterful delivery of lyrics by ALL of the emcee's! While at the same time, Christ-core headz will immediately take to the spiritual nurishment provided throughout the entire program.Who ever said that Hip-Hop and Christ don't mix??? They better pick up a copy of Tunnel Vision and recognize . . . The Christ-core revolution is here: Christ, Family, and Hip-Hop. Tunnel Vision

Best of christian hip-hop, share with non-christian friends!,

I have always been a huge fan of hip-hop and when i became a christian i didnt want to listen to the rap i was listening to. So i went on a mission to find good christian rap, well TUNNEL RATS are the best! The talent of these emcees is comparable to anyone making it big on MTV right now, its just a shame nobody hears about them. Look for the members solo efforts, Sev Statik, Raphi, New Breed, and LPG all have their own albums and they do not disappoint. Enjoy every this cd from intro to last track and dont forget to share it, make people believe in christian rap, show them other cds on my listmania as well.

Tight Rap...When I bought this cd, I was just dumbfounded...,

You can't describe the TR'z 'sides rap veterans with madd skillz. This is THE crew. LPG are two of the best emcees this world will ever see. Raphi and New Breed hold it down like I don't know what. Sev Statik and Elsie can rap, too. Dax Reynosa of LPG can sing, too. Who'd o' thought? Dert brings insane beats I've never heard anything like before. This is one crew you won't forget. If you think this cd ain't tight, man... forget you. I'm from the dirty south and most of 'em are west coasters... but that's obviously irrelevant, being that these are some o' the greatest emcees the world will ever see. You can't dis the rats... period. Listen to the tracks:"TR'z" and "Bow Down." You'll see.

Tunnel Vision,

This is actually the 2nd album release by the collectve called the Tunnel Rats. The first one is called "Experience" and was released back in 96. In comparison to that, I would say that this is an overall better product. Although if I was to take the best track off of the previous work and the best one off of "Tunnel Vision," I would say that "Experience" would come out on top. It's just that the second album is more consistent. I don't know if it's really fair to compare the two, though, because many of the personnal has changed. The Tunnel Rats really are pioneers in the so-called Christian hip hop game. They weren't the first, and it can be argued if they are the best. But it cannot be denied that they changed the tide. It is because of them that crews like LA Symphony and Deepspace 5 (and the emcees within) are able to get recognition by "secular" hip hop fans. They are owed gratitude. |
