Scott Reeder, the solo artist,

At first I was very disappointed in this album. I did what I tell myself never to do, which is make assumptions about what I am going to here. I love Scott's bass playing, he's probably one of the best bassists in the last 20 years. But if that's what you're looking for here you won't enjoy TunnelVision Brilliance. So once I realized I wasn't going to be pounding my fist to an incredible thumping bass record, I sat down and gave it an honest listen. What I found is an amazing record from a talented singer, songwriter, and all-around VERY capable musician. No, it's not "Kyuss heavy" in any way. Most of the songs are very laid back, and very elegantly crafted. Not that it doesn't have it's harder moments. Songs like "Thanks", "The Fourth", and my personal favorite "Diamond" are all amazing. If you truly enjoy Scott as a bass player, put aside all preconceptions and give this album a listen. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Atmospheric, moody, and deep,
By Timothy R. Bucci (SPRINGFIELD, IL United States) - See all my reviews

I purchased this CD because I saw an ad for it in the fantastic Sub Rosa magazine. This album is quite awesome. I'm not always in the mood for something with this much depth (and - don't get me wrong on that - this is easily likeable stuff), but I'm duly impressed with Reeder's effort here. Well worth my investment. While the influences run the gamut, I'm picking up subtleties of Rundgren and Planet P, with liberal sprinklings of Tangerine Dream meets Pink Floyd (post Roger Waters, especially) here. At any rate, you get my meaning, this stuff is layered, spacey, aural, and ambient. Good stuff ... especially if you don't want to harsh the mellow.

This entire album is amazing. Every single track makes me feel something. I really hope Scott puts out another solo disk (hope its not another 18-19 years though!). It truly sucks that most people will never know music this good even exists. Buy this, itll change your life.
