I store my onions in this container. It is a reasonable size and easily holds 5lb - will probably hold more. It looks decent. The only con is its kind of pricey. But I really could not find an alternative container to store onions.

These work very well for my dog and cat food. They are the right size to fit in the cabinet I use for animal supplies. That keeps the food handy. They are not big enough for large quantities so you may still need larger containers somewhere else.
They are also a little pricey.
