Bad Lids,

We had these when I was a kid and they always worked pretty good. But on the old set, the lids were made of the same white plastic as the bodies.
The orange plastic is more "rubbery," so the hinges bind and don't rotate the way they did with the stiffer, more "plastic-y" lids. So instead of rotating open and closed, the rubbery orange lids just sort of bend in-between the cap and the hinge. The bad hinge rotation makes it a pain to open them because instead of rotating, they just sort of bend out of the way while you are pushing and then go back to half-open once you let go. Bad decision, Tupperware.

We recently purchased a home in Hawaii and could not find any salt shaker that would not get all packed with humidity - clump up etc.. no matter even if we added rice or crackers. These shakers work perfectly.. just remember to "Snap" the lid down when you close so it gets a good seal. It is SO nice now to actually beable to use salt when we want without having to fight with it all the time. It is not the same as the old tupperware ones our family had while I was growing up. Those were a harder type plastic on the cover and these are a bit more plyable, but they do seal if you make sure you hear the snap when you close it.

The number of people who say "I haven't seen those in years" makes them worth the price. They also keep the salt 'flowing' in the humidy of the coast

Product arrived and I discovered that two of the four shakers had the hinged part of the sealing cap missing. Wrote to see if I could get the missing parts and was told that it wasn't possible so I returned the product for a refund.

Another customer said the lids are bad, and that's correct. The small lid that closes off the shaker top is difficult to get inserted, difficult to open because it doesn't want to swivel in the hinges, and is difficult for some people to close properly. I noticed the item is made in Mexico. I feel that's part of the problem with the quality of the product. It certainly doesn't meet the quality standards of the "old" tupperware. Earl Tupper started the Tupperware line in Massachusetts in the early 1940's, and it was well made with quality materials and carried an excellent lifetime warranty. These shakers are molded with side seams that look to me like they will eventually split. Time will tell. But, the lids don't seem to fit their hinges and that's the biggest problem I have with them right now.

I've used these for years. For a period of time, I thought I would try a variety of others. I am back to stay. This is the perfect size, long wearing, easy grip. Thanks you Amazon; you are a one site shopping for all my web needs.
