5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to organize my weird kitchen, June 20, 2009

This review is from: Tupperware Modular Mates Super Oval Pantry Set. Brilliant Blue (Kitchen)
I only recently discovered this particular design of Tupperware canisters, which are very deep, narrow and easy to stack. I wish I had found them years ago.

Our kitchen was cobbled together almost 40 years ago by the previous owner. I'm short on counter space and the dimensions of the cabinets are strange. I converted an old coat closet (yup, in the kitchen) into a pantry closet, with limited success until I found these containers. The closet is very deep, and it's been a pain to dig around and find things hidden in the back--especially on the top shelf.

In addition, we have meal moth attacks every so often. I try to keep all our pantry items in sealed containers, but it's been hard to find containers that hold enough and don't take up extra space, either. I'd spend a lot of time dividing stuff up into several small containers, or else I'd have to use a huge jar for several small items because that's all I had handy. So to get to a half-package of lentils I might have to find its jar behind two other containers and then dig it out from underneath bags of rice and barley inside its own jar!

I'll be able to fit three full sets of these on that top shelf, and see exactly where 15 different types of food are. In addition, using the storage chart I found on the manufacturer's website, I could see which standard packages of food would fit in which container well. 12 oz chocolate chips, #1. 5 pounds of flour, #5, 5 pounds of sugar, #4, and so forth. They list everything you can think of, from rice and pasta to cupcake sprinkles and mini marshmallows, and it's a big help in planning. I'm ordering some extra #1's and #2's to use on lower shelves, also. Then I'll be all set to do the from-scratch cooking I've been meaning to do--but didn't do because it was just too hard to see if I had the needed ingredients.

These are very nice. I priced them from a Tupperware book and got the whole set $25 cheaper on Amazon. Would recommend to anyone.

I love these storage containers. They are the perfect size for 5 pounds of sugar, 5 pounds of flour, and other smaller quantity items such as brown sugar, etc. These are the first containers I've found that really do the job, and I am so pleased that my baking cabinet is now neat & clean.

Many people cannot imagine spending this much money on food storage containers. But for those of us who grew up with Tupperware, there's no substitute. Tupperware enables me to buy and store greater amounts of food and to cook more. The modular mates are probably the most important and basic units of my massive collection. I have about 30 modular mate super ovals, and I love them.
