I recently replaced my decorative-but-inefficient canisters with a set of Tupperware Modular Mates, and I couldn't be happier. They are a nice weight/thickness, and the lids seal easily. I wanted containers big enough to store an entire package (ie. a 5lb bag of sugar, etc), with enough space for a bit extra (so I didn't have to run out completely before restocking, and to allow some room to level a measure over the container). Initially I was going with all rectangles, but found myself wanting a square for brown sugar as the Rectangle 2 just seemed too huge (while the Rectangle 1 just seemed too shallow).
In case the amounts might help someone else make a decision, I currently have: 5lbs+ (probably 7-8lbs?) of all-purpose flour in a Rectangle 3 5lbs of bread flour in a Rectangle 2 5lbs+ (6-7lbs?) of sugar in a Rectangle 2 1lb+ (1.5lbs?) of brown sugar in a Square 2 |
