I've had several styles of plastic butter trays but switched to a ceramic dish when I got tired of the cheap look and feel of them. The ceramic or glass dishes look and feel much nicer - but you cringe when a toddler hurries across a tile floor carrying them. This dish is a nice compromise between the two. This product is that is does not live up to the Tupperware brand name. The base and the top do not seal together. I would not recommend this product, or have purchased it if I had been able to examine it beforehand.

I've had several styles of plastic butter trays but switched to a ceramic dish when I got tired of the cheap look and feel of them. The ceramic or glass dishes look and feel much nicer - but you cringe when a toddler hurries across a tile floor carrying them. This dish is a nice compromise between the two. It is a nicer piece than the regular plastice ones - but it is much more durable than the ceramic.

No - it is not airtight, the top does not push seal into the bottom like the softer plastic one. But the top does sit more securely on the base than any ceramic or glass one I have ever seen.
