I ordered before I read the reviews. DUH. Because of the negative reviews, I tried to cancel.
Amazon said it was too late. But, I could simply refuse the shipment and my money would be refunded. Cool.
Anyway, regarding the negative reviews, I came to the conclusion that this isn't the kind of program some people expected. But that doesn't mean there's something wrong with the program.

Meanwhile I got a trial version and tried it out.

This program is stupendous. The manual, if you bother to read it is excellent and at 470 pages is not "thin" !
If that's not enough, the pdf file on the CD is over 1100 pages.

This is a sophisticated tool for professionals. I would expect to see it on the desktop of any NASA engineer.

This product has so many features, I can't begin to go into them. The implementations is one of the best I've seen. Check out the trial version at turbocad.com and see if it suits you. You wont be disappointed if you are willing to put in the time to learn it. (It took me about 8 hours to get proficient.)

BUYER BEWARE!!!! I purchased this software from Amazon and the codes do not work. I called the manufacturer several times, was put on hold for about 20 minutes before being told they will call me back. Well, they didn't call me back. Also, I went to their website and filled out a form. No response via email. No help at all! I called Amazon and was told that I could not return the software for a refund although I cannot use it due to issues with the software and manufacturer. The customer service rep said that Amazon is not responsible for non-working software purchased through them.

I've long wanted a computer drafting program but was put off by the high price of AutoCAD so when I saw TurboCAD for $80 I figured I could afford to take a chance. I'm glad I did. With no computer drafting experience (my only engineering drawing experience was in college 40 years ago) I was able to feel my way through the program and start to produce useful drawings after a couple of four-hour sessions. I used the manual as a reference when I arrived at a problem that held me up, but the program is intuitive enough that once I got the hang of how it worked I was able to dope my way through. I bought it for hobby use and I'm happy with it.

This software is awesome bang for the buck. It is a full featured 3D program that can do everything except advanced animation (character animation), but that's not what the software was designed to do. For modeling structures and doing walkthrus, this software does the job excellently. The 2D drawing tools are robust and the 3D capabilities are far above what one would expect for the price.

To those who write negative reviews because they couldn't understand the software, well, don't listen to them. CAD and 3D are specialized skills. Of course it's going to take time to READ THE MANUAL and burn some practical hours to better one's skillset. There is no software out there that has a magic "make pretty" button.

The software is extremely capable. I've recommended this product to a few clients and even helped them train their employees using it. As long as you read the directions and have patience, you'll be very pleased with this product and your results.

However, if you're looking for something "easy", perhaps you shouldn't be looking into this caliber of software. It really is capable of truly professional results.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive. I was pleased from the get go! The software is a snap! The Manual is wordy but has the answers. Don't be scared of this great program. This is perfect for the Home User AND affordable.

For what I paid, the program does enough of what I want. I chose it mainly for the ability to export as 3ds and other formats into Realtime Landscape design program or export as files such as jpeg which can be viewed on other computers or TV without TurboCad. I can also use it for adding annotation to graphics that I import into TurboCad. The software does take some time and practice to learn, but is enjoyable to experience all the program can do.

The only training I have is a mechanical drafting class 30 years ago in high school and using some downloaded cad programs for a trial period, but within a few hours I was able to draw out a new design for a piece of equipment I work on, so for the price I think it is a good program. I wish there were more mechanical symbols, but you can find some on the internet or buy add-ons

I had this program a few years ago and loved it, but, unfortunately, I lost it when my computer crashed, so I was excited about this purchase up until I installed it, when it told me I had the wrong serial number. I emailed them and they quickly sent me the correct number and it installed just fine, but whenever I open it, an error message pops up, telling me the program cannot be found. The only reason I gave this 3 stars is because I know what this program is capable of, but the product I received is crap. And yes, I reinstalled it numerous times and rebooted my computer after each installation; it still doesn't work. Oh well, I only paid $20 for it, so it's not like it's a big loss.

Documentation is thin and almost useless. The activation code for the tutorials doen't work. To get any functionality at all, I have had to rely on familiarity with much earlier versions. Apparently IMSI has decided to extract the maximum money by selling training courses.

Purchased this product and found similar problems to what the other reviewers are saying. IMSI can't even figure out how to put out instructions on typing in activation codes. Calls to support team unanswered. It's going back.

Finally got the training CD to work. Don't put in the hyphens on the SN but use them for the activation code!

I don't agree about the manual-it's poorly written. They'll use 3 pages to tell you the simplest thing and glaze over much more complex tasks. I think they're trying to sell training disks. Several of the features don't work like described in the manual. You have to mess with them a while to get it right. Eight hours is about the start up curve if you've messed with CAD before. If this is the first time, expect a lot longer.

These guys either rushed the release or they've got so many problems they can't answer them all. Don't purchase. I'm not thrilled with Vista on this computer and wonder if it causes some of the bugs.
