5.0 out of 5 stars One of my absolute favorite Turbo Jam DVD!
This is a wonderful high intensity workout. If you haven't tried Turbo Jam, you are in for a real workout treat! Chalene takes what might be boring punch and kick moves and turns them into exciting ab core exercises that really get you motivated and working out! 3.0 out of 5 stars It's Exercise
I gave this video 3 stars just because it is the fast-paced movement that the average person needs to increase cardiovascular fitness. This was the first DVD I had ever done from the Turbo Jam line and I cannot help but think that this was an attempt (attempt being the operative word)to bite off of Billy Blanks' Tae Bo. However, comparing the two, I don't feel that this...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my absolute favorite Turbo Jam DVD!, December 11, 2006
This review is from: Turbo Jam: Punch Kick & Jam (DVD)
This is a wonderful high intensity workout. If you haven't tried Turbo Jam, you are in for a real workout treat! Chalene takes what might be boring punch and kick moves and turns them into exciting ab core exercises that really get you motivated and working out! This is one of my favorite workout DVD's in the Turbo collection. She has some wonderful combination moves that are great and get you pumped. I've been doing Turbo Jam for a short while but lost weight and inches (read my review on Turbo Jam Fat Blaster). This is a great workout DVD. The moves are designed to flow with your own natural movement and there is a team member on all the DVD's, Mindy, who always does the modified version for those who need a little boost. For the rest of us, these moves can be pumped higher and hotter to get the best cardio workout. If you don't know about Chalene and her infectious smile and truly inspirational workout spirit, you are missing out on a great thing! This DVD has about six minutes of warm up which starts off hot and moves into the rest of its 48 minutes (total) of hard workout. The end of the DVD has some tubular toning, just a couple of minutes or so. The tube thing is a rubber band with handles to work the deltoids and glutes (butt muscles) to tone. I think it was a way to introduce the tube idea - I'm not so crazy about it. (Producers should let her do what she does best and thats pump, punch, kick and jam). On the other hand, the tubes help you learn balance and coordination which calls for a different use of your muscles.) The DVD ends with about a three minute stretching routine. I do the tube stuff at the end as part of a cool down anyway. My only personal bias is that I wish they would have lengthened the cardio by a few minutes and dumped the tubular stuff. You will however get your total cardio workout and will feel it at the end. It's a great routine by design, it is a total workout and one of my absolute best in my collection. The DVD is about 50 minutes long in total workout time.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lot Of Fun, December 1, 2006

I exercise a lot, every day for at least an hour. Living in New England makes it difficult to do outside activities with any sense of regularity. So I supplement my workouts with dvds and videos. I love Tae Bo kickboxing. And after I saw an infomercial on Turbo Jam I decided to try Chalene Johnson. So I bought Punch Kick and Jam online. And I'm very happy that I did. After having done Tae Bo for a good number of years I'm familiar with the moves, so it only took a couple of tries before I was in the groove with Chalene. This is pretty high energy workout. It's 50 minutes long with about 5 minutes of warming up and then right into the workout. I like that each segment is timed. Chalene has a great attitude and she's fun. Just make sure that you really listen to her for your cues cause she doesn't waste any time. But the cues ARE there. My favorite things about this dvd is that it makes for a fun sweatfest and it's really not your average aerobic workout. I highly recommend it and I will definitely buy more Turbo Jam dvds.

5.0 out of 5 stars SO. MUCH. FUN., October 13, 2007
This review is from: Turbo Jam: Punch Kick & Jam (DVD)
I have been working out rather regularly for about 5 years now and I like to alternate between the gym and using DVDs at home, which has been successful. I consider myself to be at an advanced level as far as fitness, especially with kickboxing-related workouts. I've got just about every Tae-bo video, which I love, plus a ton of others. Then I ordered this and ohh my gosh, is it so much fun and, I must admit, quite an intense cardio workout. She mixes up the choreography in such a unique way. Most workouts are so repetitive and robotic. It is very high-energy. She is a cool intructor, not annoying at all. I can see it being too difficult for a beginner - or the uncoordinated, but Im sure after a few tries anybody could pick it up. I seriously want to do this one every day. Highly recommended. Order from Amazon though - Avoid Beachbody.com at all costs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wowy!!, December 20, 2007
This review is from: Turbo Jam: Punch Kick & Jam (DVD)
Upon using this DVD for ths first time I felt compelled to write my own review of it. If you're new to Turbo Jam don't let the fast-pace and difficult moves get you down, you will master it. I've been doing the work-out for only three days and I feel so much better. I can feel my body changing and after all those years of being overweight and inactive I can't describe how wonderful it feels. I look forward to each new day because I know that I'm getting stronger by doing this work-out.
Any Turbo Jam newbies out there don't give up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun intense workout thats over before you know it!!!, August 6, 2007
This review is from: Turbo Jam: Punch Kick & Jam (DVD)
I bought this workout looking for something to get me past my plateau. I am glad I bought it, because I am finally on my way to losing those last 15 pounds. I already lost 5 pounds in the past 3 three weeks by adding the advanced turbo jam workouts. I didn't buy the first set of turbo jam workouts and when I first viewed this workout I thought oh, my this is too complicated I should have purchased the first set. My friend has the first set so, I borrowed hers to get the moves down ,but found it wasn't much of a help. If you view this workout a couple of times before you do the workout it should help. The more and more I do this workout the moves are easier to pick up. Now that I have almost gotten the routine down it just alot more fun to do. I am glad I didn't give up on this workout!!!! The cues are there if you listen and are focused as you do this workout. Very, very fun intense workout!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this workout. There wasn't alot of dance steps and I was sweating up a storm. I felt like I really got a workout. I would recommend this, and all of her workouts, to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Workout!, March 20, 2008
This review is from: Turbo Jam: Punch Kick & Jam (DVD)
This dvd is absolutely fantastic! Don't be discouraged when you do it the first few times, as you may feel uncoordinated with the moves. By the third time you do it, you really feel like you have the workout down though. The workout is amazing. After a week of doing the dvd I could already see results. I recommend doing the dvd about 3 times a week at the very least to see results. I highly recommend this dvd. Not only is it a great workout, but fun as well! If you don't have a tubing rope for the end workout, you can use 1-3 pound weights for your arms, or your own resistance as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite DVD in the Turbo Jam Collection by far!, January 9, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Turbo Jam: Punch Kick & Jam (DVD)
I just finished my first workout with this DVD, and felt compelled to write a review on it immediately. I have been a loyal Turbo Jam advocate for five months now, and this DVD gave me the best workout I've had since beginning the program! I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, and this workout had me breathing heavily and sweating profusely throughout.

After trying nearly every DVD in the Turbo Jam collection - and absolutely loving every one of them - I finally got around to trying Punch, Kick & Jam. I am a big fan of the cardio workouts in the series, but at times I find myself wishing that Chalene would make the routines a little more athletic to assist with tone in conjunction with the shedding of pounds in the cardio. I got my wish with this DVD! There is a lot of repetition, but she explains how to execute the different punches and kicks with the correct form to help with tone. There is also very little time between routine sets, so there is less time to let your heart rate - and mental energy - drop. The cool down at the very end is all Capoeira, which was exciting since the moves haven't all been clearly demonstrated in the previous DVDs. Chalene is incredibly encouraging throughout the workout. My absolute favorite part is the strength training near the end with the resistance bands. Again, it helps with form and tone and you don't even have to put in a different Turbo Jam DVD! This workout may be a little overwhelming for the novice Turbo Jammer, but after a little practice and increase in stamina, I truly believe this will become one of your favorites, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great and fun workout!, June 5, 2008
This review is from: Turbo Jam: Punch Kick & Jam (DVD)
This is one of the longer workout videos put out by the Turbo Jam crew, but it's a great video nonetheless. I've been doing the Turbo Jam workouts for almost 2 years, and have gotten a lot out of these videos (including a better looking body!). I just started taking Tae Kwon Do lessons with my husband and daughters. The instructors couldn't believe I'd never done any type of martial arts. When I explained I knew some of these moves from workout videos, they couldn't beleive it. Chalene Johnson is great at motivating you, and makes each workout fun. (Not annoyingly happy like some other gals!). I love these workouts and would recommend them to anyone!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's Exercise, March 26, 2011

This review is from: Turbo Jam: Punch Kick & Jam (DVD)
I gave this video 3 stars just because it is the fast-paced movement that the average person needs to increase cardiovascular fitness. This was the first DVD I had ever done from the Turbo Jam line and I cannot help but think that this was an attempt (attempt being the operative word)to bite off of Billy Blanks' Tae Bo. However, comparing the two, I don't feel that this even comes close mainly because of some of the technique. You learn early on that this is not about the boxing technique but about dancing and bopping around while haphazardly flailing your arms. I did not see any precision in the movements. It is also very very repetitive; almost boringly so. There are three main sections denoted by a change of music and within each section you repeat the same set of movements over and over on each side. Then there's a faster-paced breakdown with a bunch of random movements followed by a slower paced capoeira section.

If Tae Bo isn't your thing but you like kickboxing or martial arts-style workouts, I recommend Ilaria Montagnani workouts. However, if you like to dance or want a more relaxed workout, then you'll probably be okay with Turbo Jam.
