The Chinese Stars are two parts Arab on Radar, one part Six Finger Satellite, and one part mystery man. "turbo mattress" blasts off with a shrill, arpeggiated guitar line, with Eric Paul hollering lyrics that just barely make sense ("You could build a support group/with the germs that you bring on vacation."). One track rolls into the next so quickly that you'll barely have time to rest before another grinding tune begins. You just know that these guys must slay in concert, and cranking up this CD to full volume gives a fifteen-minute preview of what that must be like. Warning: this CD is shaped like a Chinese star (clever!) and might not play in all stereos.

A sound very similar to the Faint but with a spoken word style of vocals and more visceral non-melodic, groove oriented material. It takes some listens in order to really hear what they're doing with the bass being the lead. Good music for me to just clear my mind and relax while also feeling a bit charged up.
