4.0 out of 5 stars Or you can get the free version
There is a free version for download identical to this one (google it to find it), but it won't import last year's info. For those of us who've used it before, it's a no-brainer to pay the money for that feature, but if you're using Business for the first time, by all means save the $$$ and get the free download this year. You'll be buying it soon enough next year!

1.0 out of 5 stars Turbotax Business 2009 will not link the State CA LLC, Released without Quality Control
I have been a TurboTax user for many years. Although the price for the Turbotax Business is much higher than H&R Block's TaxCut Business, I tried both, TurboTax was easier to use and preferred. This year I think the quality of the Turbotax business 2009 is in questions, so many bugs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Turbotax Business 2009 will not link the State CA LLC, Released without Quality Control, February 20, 2010
I have been a TurboTax user for many years. Although the price for the Turbotax Business is much higher than H&R Block's TaxCut Business, I tried both, TurboTax was easier to use and preferred. This year I think the quality of the Turbotax business 2009 is in questions, so many bugs.

I downloaded free The Turbotax Business 2009 from their website, and I was ready to file the return, so I decided to buy a Business State, CA LLC. I paid $49.99 and then Downloaded it .. After installed it on my PC, I reopen the Turbotax Business 2009, there was no State CA LLC on the menu even I just installed it.. Then I tried to download the State CA LLC again, but this time using the Turbotax Business 2009 "online" menu instead of downloading it directly from the turbotax website. It guided me to my turbotax account, but after I logon to the account, the software asked me to pay $49.99 again!!! I supposed to have 3years of unlimited downloads since I have already paid it.. I decided to give it a try, selected "continue", after that, the software downloaded and installed the business state CA LLC while the turbotax Business Federal was open. After that, I restarted the Turbotax business 2009 program, the State CA LLC was still not installed. Worst of all, my credit card got charged twice!!! Unbelievable..

I called the Turbotax support again, they offered me a free FULL version of Turbotax-business 2009, I tried it again, the Business State LLC still cannot be installed. The customer service was very nice, however, the bug is still there. Since the STATE CA LLC cannot be linked to the Federal Business 2009, both of them are useless for me..

I am really disappointed now. I am questioning Intuit's internal engineering verification process before release a product for sale. Turbotax shall test those installation issues before release the software for sale. I worked in engineering companies before, before release a product, the product always got tested very extensively. This kind of installation error shall be tested extensively before the software release.

I am still waiting for them to solve the bug, and my turbotax account is still showing double charges..

I am considering H&Q block's taxcut now.. So far I have not found those kind of low level bugs in H&Q software..

I will update the Turbotax Business bug fixing later.

---------------
I am updating the status for the case..

Finally Turbotax fixed the problem. After I update the software again, the state CA LLC showed up. Turbotax business 2009 linked to the State CA LLC..

I actually went into a Turbotax Inner circle forum to post the bug, I am happy with their fast response and fix..

I actually just brought the H&Q Block taxcut business and plan to work on the return. Anyway, wasted a little money...Turbotax's response to the inner circle bug reporting is very fast.. I reported a math error on form 1116 in 2008, they also fixed it within few day..

Thanks for the fast response.

I am still waiting for them to refund the double charge.

2.0 out of 5 stars Downloading Was a Hassle, February 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: TurboTax Business Federal + efile 2009 [Download] [Old Version] (Software Download)
This year we decided to try the downloadable version, but it wasn't a simple download. You had to download a "downloader" and then use that to download your software. You're then asked what PC you want to use the software on. Long story short: Get the real thing and just be patient: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RS8FBE?tag=a52-20&ie=UTF8 ...especially if you hate installing crap on your PC just to handle a simple task, especially downloading software, and if you want to avoid the burdens imposed by Digital Rights Management (DRM).

I downloaded the software on a different computer than I intended to use the software on. While in the end, I got the download, it didn't go to my ideal location, and I had to hunt around a bit to find it in EXE format.

Just say no to bloatware! Are the few bucks you save worth the extra nonsense?

Regarding TurboTax itself, you get all the extra resources with the CD that you don't get with the downloadable software, so you won't have to waste your time digging around for answers on Intuit's sales-oriented (not support-oriented) website. I do wish this was available as an online-offering like the rest of the TurboTax series though.

Finally, if you don't own a corporation, all you really need is the Home + Business version (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RS8F8W?tag=a52-20&ie=UTF8), as TurboTax Business is more Corporation-oriented than it is small-business or self-employment oriented.

I hope I've helped!

Works very well for my simple 1065s; I do wish Intuit would transition this product to an online one like their many home/personal tax products. Downsides: This cannot import from QuickBooks Mac; you in fact have to have QuickBooks Windows up and running in order for TurboTax to import a QuickBooks file at all. Seems silly. Also, if you use QuickBooks Online, there is no connection or import into TurboTax whatsoever, which is annoying. This being about the only product of its kind, I'll continue using it in the future - but an online edition, or some competition, sure would be great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't "talk" with QB Online version, January 31, 2010
I use Quick Books Online Plus and thought it would be the same as having a desktop version, I mean, being both Intuit products, Importing from QB Online Plus into TurboTax would be standard. Wrong!!!!! You can't do it. I had to print the Profit&Loss and the Balance Sheet reports and input all data manually!!!!! TurboTax maybe good as a software per se but I won't be using it next time. I can do my business tax return myself and won't need to spend 100 bucks, which by the way was another mistake because now they are selling it for 86 bucks!!!! .TurboTax Business Federal + efile 2009

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Small Business Taxes, February 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the fourth year I have used TurboTax - Biz. It serves my LLC needs very well. I primarily use the 'wizard' for data entry flows and it is exceptionally easy to use. Filing the Federal and State Tax was ultra simple and both were accepted in less than 24 hours. I would highly recommend to any small business. For the Price - it certainly beats the cost of using a CPA by a huge multiple.

2.0 out of 5 stars TurboTax Business Can't Download Transactions from Broker, March 29, 2010
By
I bought the expensive TurboTax Business to do the taxes for two trusts held at our broker. Quess what? This expensive version can not download those transactions into the program. WHY!!!! I would expect most trusts have investments held at a broker, but TurboTax doesd not see fit to give you an easy way to get those transactions into the tax return.

The reasonably priced Deluxe version works just fine at downloading those same transactions into my personal tax return. So I had to manually enter each one of the stock transactions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ohio State waives Corporate returns for most business., January 14, 2010
By
I am a long time Turbo Tax user since about 1990 and in general find it to be an excellent program for personal and business. The business edition is really useful if you use QuickBooks. My business is fairly uncomplicated and I finished up the Federal part in less than an hour. The Quickbooks import helped a lot although some adjustments/edits were needed. Before I started my state part, I decided to double check the minimum franchise fee and to my great surprise found that as of 2010(2009 tax year) the FT1120 C and S filing is no longer required for most Ohio businesses. Isn't that hard to believe?? An actual tax reporting and paperwork reduction! I was just at the point of ordering the $50 state download too. I wonder what Intuit would have done for me -like a $50 refund-if I had downloaded it and found it was no longer needed??? Here is the link if you want to see if your company is exempted:

TurboTax Business is free from Intuit for '09 as usual!!! Has been for many years. Why pay $100+ for it? The only thing it won't do is import from last year's return (as with all past free versions).

3.0 out of 5 stars Good But Could Be Better, April 23, 2010

I have no complaints about the product itself. It seems to cover all the bases as far as filing a small business return. It's unfortunate that Turbo Tax makes a distinction between a single and multiple-member LLCs. If you have a single-member LLC, you can use the much less expensive Home and Business version but if you have a multiple-member LLC, you have to use the full-fledged Business version. Not only is it more expensive, but it doesn't even include the state program or forms. For that, you have to fork over yet another $50 to download the state portion of the program. You're almost to the point where seeking out the services of a CPA might just be worth the cost, saving you the time and frustration by doing it yourself. My biggest gripe though, is that fact that the program doesn't even link to any of Turbo Tax's personal federal tax products. None of the business information that you must report on your personal taxes transfers. You have to enter and compute all that data again such as Schedule E and Form 4562. It's a major pain. Even if you know the information to enter, TT forces you to complete the Schedule E worksheet or you cannot e-file. You are forced to snail-mail it to the IRS. It really makes no sense.
