I've used TurboTax for years and noticed past years' boxes cluttering my closet shelf. So, thought I'd avoid the box and download. Download and install took all of about 5 minutes.
Others' complaints appear to be due to ISP problems or slow bandwidth. The file is about 90 MB so if you don't have high speed connectivity, you'll have issues.
Otherwise, TurboTax has been a solid software package for years. As to the person complaining about only getting one state, Turbo Tax has been sold that way for at least 10 years that I'm aware of. They've always made you pay for a second state.

i just installed turbotax deluxe 2007. If you have vista it probably will not let you connect for one click updates or even manual updates. Spoke to a tech representative. Heres how you do it so you dont have to sit on the phone for 45 minutes troubleshooting. click start, click all programs, right click command prompt, select run as administrator, in command prompt box type regsvr32 jscript.dll(make sure there is a space in between regsvr32 and jscript.dll) and press enter. voila your done. ---------one addition to my review. someone made a commment about only getting one state and not being able to do the whole family. As long as everyone lives in the same state you can do multiple people with the one copy just have to pay for e-file if you wish to do that way

The Amazon Downloader doesn't work for this product. The customer service explanation was that some ISPs halt the download because they think you are downloading pirated software. (I use Cox cable.) Their only work around so far is for you to try Firefox if you are using Internet Explorer. Neither worked.

I chose the deluxe version CD because of mortgage & education interest, and various personal deductions. The software was easy to use and pretty straight forward. But I was disappointed in having to pay an extra $18 to E-FILE. I knew I was going to have to pay but I think it's kinda a rip off. If you choose to take that $18 out of your refund, they charge you $30 instead of $18. That's a serious rip off and I can't see what justifies that expense other then convenience. Another issue I had was right after I e-filed, the software crashed (Blue Screened) my computer. This happened on all the returns I did. Fortunately, I was able to find what I needed to send in to the IRS after E-FILING. I was disappointed I had to take the extra steps though.

Works pretty well and is user friendly. Not happy that the Amazon description lists e-file as a feature then when you get through the program TurboTax wants to charge another $18 x 2 for e-filing state and federal. By the time I added it up I could have seen a tax professional for a few bucks more. Feel like I got screwed on the price.

While the software in the box will work for Mac or Windows, this download will only work on the Windows platform.

My biggest complaint is that e-file costs extra ($17.99). Also, seemed to create an error in assigning last year's state refund as taxable in the calculations despite it deciding that last year's state refund was not a taxable income because of alternative minimum tax.

Contrary to what others have said it does do schedule C (at least basic sched C - profit/loss from business).

TurboTax Deluxe Federal + 1 State downloaded on my comcast broadband connection in less than 2 minutes and installed in another 2 minutes. No problem. With the $10 rebate from TurboTax found in the mailer they sent me on top of the $37 from Amazon, the cost to me was $27 rather than buying at $45 direclty from TurboTax mailer which did not qualify for the rebate.

What a horrible item. The first bad experience I have ever had with Amazon. It charged me for 2 copies and all that downloads is a pointless DLL file. I have their downloader software, Windows XP and current IE and it simply does not work. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. And you can't get a refund, so I am out $80 for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !!!! I do not think I will ever buy from Amazon again due to this and I am a long-time customer.

Actual program was fast and easy to use. Only problem is that I had to download it a second time because it did not download correctly the first time (no fault of my own). E-file fees are expensive too. $17.95 for each E-File return plus an additional $29.99 fee if you decide to take fees out of your refund. (Total: $65+) Better off going to H&R Block Tax Cut online. You can do your Federal and State Taxes (plus E-File) for only $38.21. Only discovered that after I purchased the TurboTax Download.
