Turbo State Tax,
By
This review is from: TurboTax State Multi-State 2004 Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
Note the following from Intuit which may be the reason for the confusion and why the disks do not work. Possibly I wish they would go back to last year where you received a free state product online, after the Tax is available.
This is the Intuit list: TurboTax State for Tax Year 2004 State Date Available for Download Alabama December 30, 2004 Arkansas February 10, 2005 Arizona January 24, 2005 California January 3, 2005 Colorado December 27, 2004 Connecticut January 20, 2005 District of Columbia February 10, 2005 Delaware February 3, 2005 Florida January 3, 2005 Georgia January 13, 2005 Hawaii February 3, 2005 Iowa January 3, 2005 Idaho December 27, 2004 Illinois January 20, 2005 Indiana December 27, 2004 Kansas December 27, 2004 Kentucky January 3, 2005 Louisiana January 6, 2005 Massachusetts January 6, 2005 Maryland January 20, 2005 Maine January 20, 2005 Michigan January 20, 2005 Minnesota January 31, 2005 Missouri January 24, 2005 Mississippi January 3, 2005 Montana January 20, 2005 North Carolina January 20, 2005 North Dakota December 27, 2004 Nebraska January 6, 2005 New Hampshire February 3, 2005 New Jersey January 20, 2005 New Mexico January 31, 2005 New York January 20, 2005 Ohio January 13, 2005 Oklahoma January 20, 2005 Oregon January 13, 2005 Pennsylvania January 24, 2005 Rhode Island February 7, 2005 South Carolina January 3, 2005 Tennessee December 27, 2004 Utah January 3, 2005 Virginia January 20, 2005 Vermont February 10, 2005 Wisconsin February 3, 2005 West Virginia January 17, 2005

Won't Install on My Mac Either,
By
This review is from: TurboTax State Multi-State 2004 Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
I installed Turbotax Federal without a hitch. But the State program seems to assume I have already installed one State version when I haven't and keeps asking for a license key. When I click on the State section in Turbotax Federal it confirms that no State program is installed. This product has no value to me as I cannot install it. Intuit should do a better job of taking care of its customers.

Won't install on a Mac,
By
This review is from: TurboTax State Multi-State 2004 Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
As it presently stands, this product will not install on a Mac, and the company is saying that an installable disc won't be available until "late January or February." How, one might reasonably ask, can a company ship a product that won't install? And why do they not make this blunder public (on their web site, for instance) and pull the product from the shelves?

Fails to install on mac OS X 10.3,
By
This review is from: TurboTax State Multi-State 2004 Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
As other reviews have stated, this product simply fails to install. It assumes you are attempting to purchase a second state product. This is absolutely absurd. I purchased software that won't even install. Don't buy this. Just buy the Turbo Tax Deluxe and download the state software through it. The rebate is the same and maybe that method will work. If you did buy this, make sure your voice is heard by Intuit. [...]

not multistate,
This review is from: TurboTax State Multi-State 2004 Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
It should not be adverstized on this site as a multistate product. It does not say this term on the box, or by turbotax although the product as "described by manufacturer" on this site as such is misleading also. You get nothing more than what you would get for a download for one state and have to pay for any additional state's forms.

Decent,
By
This review is from: TurboTax State Multi-State 2004 Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
TurboTax State installed without any problems on my Mac, running 10.3.8. The program was free after rebate and I received my rebate promptly from Intuit. The program is decent, although it does not do much. PA taxes aren't that complicated to being with. One complaint is that the program dumped me into a PA Schedule C instead of asking whether I want a PA Schedule C or a PA Schedule C-F. I went to forms and created a schedule C-F, then went back to the interview, and my schedule C-F was there. This procedure would not be obvious to someone who was not already very familiar with this program.
I am not sure why someone would want to pay $14.95 for the State e-filing. There is no rebate for the state filing. So when you file your taxes electronically, make sure you select Federal only, then print out your state tax return and mail it in.

SUPER EASY,

You need to have all your tax information on hand to enter the correct information. This program is so easy: just type in information and continue on down the road. The deductionss page is the best....who ever knew car registration was deductible? This program saved us a lot of TIME AND MONEY!

Worked As Advertised For Me,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: TurboTax State Multi-State 2004 Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
I have used TurboTax products since 1995, with the exception of trying TaxCut last year, which was a disaster. The TurboTax State product had no difficulty quickly and accurately completing tax returns for my state (Minnesota) after finishing my federal return.
As some other reviewers have correctly noted, the name of the product ("Multi-State") is somewhat deceptive, in that you get to choose one state return to file; if you have to file for more than one state you have to pay for additional state downloads. This is the primary reason I gave the product four stars: functionally it was easy to use and intuitive, and I had no problems of any sort with it (I have Windows XP running on a 2003 vintage computer). This product isn't perfect, but it does a good job, and is enormously superior to TaxCut in every way.

Bait and Delay,
By Exacting Consumer "Grumpy" (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: TurboTax State Multi-State 2004 Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
Unlike the Mac Version, the Windows version will install . . . but the installation is nothing more than a promise to download the real program once its available. Moreover, the availibility date keeps slipping for California. First, it was supposed to be available Dec. 20, then Dec. 24, now it says "on or after Dec. 28." Since one of the major purposes of buying the software is to plan my taxes before year end, having it slip to December 28 is naturally a problem. What's more, I am not exactly full of confidence that it will even be available then.
Ironically, the Intuit website says "don't worry, the date on your CD will be the date that the software is available." Um, guys? Then why do you keep changing the date on the CD? Yeesh.

Terrible software and even worse support,
By Anon (Sunnyvale, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: TurboTax State Multi-State 2004 Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
TurboTax is buggy and the support is terrible! You cannot update your state information after the initial review without manually editing the tax forms. If the field involves computations, you must do these manually after changing it. If you try to re-run the interview, it just brings you to the "finish" screen. I talked to four different people from TurboTax support about this. They say it's a known bug and they have no plans to fix it. If I wanted to manually edit to forms, I wouldn't have purchased this software! If you make changes to the federal, TurboTax state isn't necessarily updated. I received the following ridiculous suggestions from support: clear your cookies (I'm not using the web version); delete this file, but make sure you empty the recycling bin (what??); go to forms and click delete form (there is no delete option). I don't know where they get these ideas, but support isn't helpful when you know more than they do!
