A great film about vengeance and graffiti,

I first saw "Turk 182!" (yes, its title really has an exclamation point in it) a few years back, and I thought it was a great movie. Now that I've grown a little since then and matured even more, I wanted to watch it again to see if it was as great as I remembered it.....and it was.Terry "Turk" Lynch (Robert Urich) is a New York City fireman that was injured while saving a little girl from a burning building. After many pleads for help from Terry's younger brother, James (Timothy Hutton), all the leaders of the city refuse to give Terry the benefits that he needs to live and to recover from his accident. James Lynch is so upset about his brother not getting what he deserves, that he becomes a hero in his own way, by using graffiti to create certain messages (you'll have to watch the movie to find out what they are and what they mean) all over the city. Whether it's on a living horse, a famous bridge, or a "graffiti proof" train, James sure knows how to use graffiti as an art. "Turk 182!" doesn't have any spectacular special effects or a tremendously engrossing plot or script, so if you're looking for that, you will be very disappointed. It's just a basic story about a brother trying to give his older brother some due, and to let everybody else know that he is a hero. For years I've enjoyed watching "Turk 182!," and I'm pretty sure I'll always like it. It baffles me that this film seems to be so invisible to movie fans. It's a great film that deserves more attention than it has gotten so far. If you like great movies, I definitely recommend purchasing "Turk 182!"

Another Hidden Gem From Anchor Bay...,

Long out of print on VHS, "Turk 182" was a most sought after tape. Its great to see it available again, especially in Widescreen. Tim Hutton is really convincing as a fella who idolizes his older fireman brother. This movie holds more magic today, mainly because of 9/11. This movie has wit, charm, class and enough joy to outlast any chick flick. Yeah, it's a chick flick for guys! Directed by Bob Clark, who also made "Porky's," but don't hold that against this film. A great family film.

Great Memories.,

This movie is the most memorable movie in my existance. In 1985 this played on HBO shortly after its release and it has a special meaning in my life. I was 17 at the time. My girlfriend Debbie and I had a joke that everytime we turned on the TV, "Turk 182" would be on... and it was! It's a great movie, with the same passion of "Taps". Rent or buy it!-Charlie

I have four brothers and this movie does a great job showing a "brother's love". If you are synical and like to pick everything apart you probably won't think much of this movie but if you have a heart and like feel good movies, you'll love it!

This movie is by far my husbands favorite movie! He has watched it numerous times. I can't get him away from the TV set when it is on. I really wish they would put this movie on DVD because it rightly deserves to be there. It is a great movie. It has everything a movie needs action, drama, excitement and any other words I could think of other than GREAT !!! Maybe someday they will put it on DVD and we will get a clearer picture. I definately would buy it in a heartbeat! Once you watch it you will have to watch it over and over and over again. It is a great movie!!!

Classic For Graffiti,

Being a graffiti writer myself, I remember watching this movie when i was pretty young. Back then, I always thought people who wrote graffiti were vandals, or criminals, but this movie was one of the first to portray them in a possitive light. The lead character (Timothy Hutton) was made out to be the 'mysterious-hero' taking on city hall, getting his message out for all the city to see. Heroic, daring, all the reasons why i took on graffiti to begin with. This movie is also considered a cult classic to your common movie buffs, graffiti writers, and your underground New Yorker.

One of my favourite movies from the 80's and still great to watch now. If you haven't seen it before - A twentysomething guy's older brother gets hurt while risking his life to save a young child. The resultant injury means he can't work and no compensation is available. The younger brother tries to get someone to notice his older siblings plight and goes all the way to the Mayor of New York. However, the mayor insults the injured man and sets in motion the rest of the movie where the younger brother gets revenge for the insult. Kim Catrall is gorgeous as a just out of school social worker and love interest of the younger brother. By the end of the movie you'll be cheering out loud - TURK! TURK! TURK!

This is such a cool movie. It has everything a movie lover would want, love, beauty, hope and ugliness of greed. The fact that it is like a time capsule, very current for the times and has a message for us now. Being a hero doesn't automatically win you favor with everyone. Mostly it is because you are "the one" at that time and no one else is there to do it. A theme Bruce Willis has made a career of.
