Silk and Bells,

This CD has it all. These instrumental tracks move from the deeply seductive and vaguely mystical to a veritable cascade of rhythm and light. All of them are very danceable and conjure vivid imigary. You can almost hear the crackle of wood and feel the heat from the flicker of the campfire flames in the desert... Wonderful all-rounder stuff!

This CD is quickly becoming one of my favorites. The first song "Qül Geceleri Dansi" is a wonderful song for veil work to it starts slow then it move into a faster pace then back to slow. Also on the CD are two of my all time favorite Turkish songs "Kasik Oyun Havasi" (Spoon Dance)& "Serker Oglan" (Sugar Boy). If you like Turkish Belly Dance music you will like this one.

Good belly dancing music,
This review is from: Turkish Bellydance: Desert Night Dance (Audio CD)
This is a good recording of Turkish belly dance music, it never fails to make me want to dance. The music is lively and fun to listen to even if you do not belly dance. The music sounds authentic to me, but I am not at all an expert in regards to Middle Eastern music. They do use authentic instruments, such as the Saz (long-necked lute).

Turkish Belly Dance for dancers,
By A Customer
This review is from: Turkish Bellydance: Desert Night Dance (Audio CD)
This is a great cd for intermediate dancers. The music is all the things other reviewers have said, and nearly all the pieces are 4-7 minutes long, a good length. Half the girls in my troupe want to use numbers from it for solos. Also, it's was authentic enough that my Turkish-American colleague stuck her head into my office to ask if I was really playing Turkish music and told me she really enjoyed it.

guaranteed Turkish style,

Every track of this CD offers lively inspiration for dancing and fantasizing. As a whole, the CD really delivers (with real instruments) the Turkish style of cabaret, which has never been for the faint of heart.
Track six, "Nihavent oyun havasi," is perfect for any dancer who needs pacing because the tempo is moderate, neither too fast nor too slow, while the overall mood is hypnotic, though more varied than in the first track "Desert Night Dance" which has more steady mystique, even in the fast part, and hence is excellent for dramatic veil work. Also the Nihavent music makes good use of zilya (finger cymbals) in a way that almost focuses the music around this small percussion. The final track "Trakya ciftetellisi" is a real sweat drencher at eight minutes and twenty seconds. Not for beginners, it could leave even the most advanced dancer breathless but ecstatic!

The music is lovely, haunting, thought provoking stuff, Great to move to and even greater kept low with candles and a fire to support conversaion or renewing your reason to be alive.Very invigorating fun energy, gets some strange looks from the people in the next car at stoplights, supports grinning freely.

I lived in Turkey for 4 years, and thought this CD to really capture the bellydancing music from that part of the world.

This album is a delightful composite of Turkish bellydance music, which brought back pleasant memories and visions of the graceful art of the dance. Even if you are not familiar with the dance, the instruments bring you to the Levant in an enjoyable way.
