Ensemble Huseyin Turkmenler creates sensual, exciting Turkish music that defies description (but I'll try anyway) ... I love the clarinet improvisations, the violin and kamenche melodies, the darbuk and other percussive instruments, accompanied by the qanun, and occasional ney. They play enchanting makams, such as, the saba and nikri, with creativity and improvisational flair, staying well within the prescriptive musical mode. This music will move you to new heights of ecstasy or move you to dance a tsiftelli or karsilamas! Your spirit will soar with pleasure and abandonment ... every track on this CD is superb.
