This review is from: Turkish Cooking (Hardcover)
I'm a big fan of Tess Mallos. Her recipes are simple, healthy, and produce results good enough for entertaining. Her "Complete Middle East Cookbook" is a must-have for anyone who likes the foods hailing from the triangle extending from Greece to Afghanistan to Egypt. This Turkish cookbook has her usual great recipes, and has attractive photographs of most of the dishes. However, if you own the above-mentioned "Complete Middle East..." you've already got the majority of the recipes, and if you've also got her "The Complete Mediterranean Cookbook," you've got most of the rest. I'm not an authority on Turkish food, but I also sense that "Turkish Cooking" is far from encyclopedic. It lacks several of the dishes I've had in Turkish restaurants, including the dessert kazandibi. Bottom line - a nice book for someone interested only in Turkish food, or as a gift to someone you think might like to start cooking Turkish. Otherwise, her previous collections are much better deals.
