Previous reviewer missed the point,
This review is from: Turkish Folk Music Collection (Audio CD)
The previous reviewer has unrealistic expectations of these recordings. These are field recordings made by the great Hungarian composer Béla Bartók in the earliest days of sound recording. This CD has great ethnomusicological value and provides unique insight into Bartók's creative process. If you like Turkish folk music and are willing to do the hard listening that is required of extremely old field recordings, then you will get a lot out of this. If you are a Bartók fan and want to learn more about music that inspired him, then you will also find this valuable. I give this 4 stars just because it is difficult listening at times, but to give this CD only 1 star just misses the mark completely.
