Product Description

Size: 240

Help support your liver and digestive system with Swanson Turmeric! Traditionally used in cooking as a curry spice, herbalists use turmeric as a liver tonic and gastrointestinal system soother. The key to turmeric's benefits appear to be its high concentration of natural compounds known as curcuminoids, which possess powerful antioxidant capabilities. FAQs Q: How much curcumin is present in this product? A: With full-spectrum herbs, we do not specify a particular amount of curcumin or assay for it. Curcumin will be present as a natural component of turmeric, but concentration will vary in each batch with variations in growing conditions, time of harvest and other similar issues. Q: I've heard that turmeric is not easily absorbed in the intestine. Is there any way I can improve absorption for greater benefit? A: Absorption of turmeric can be improved by taking it with Bioperine , a black pepper complex, which enhances nutrient absorption. Q: My digestive system is very sensitive. Is there any form of turmeric that would be more easily tolerated in the digestive system? A: Try Kyoto Fermented Turmeric .

Swanson is a company where you can get pretty good buys on almost any type of health product including this one.

5 stars for customer service. Just received the bottle so I can't rate on the supplement Turmeric, but nevertheless, these 5 stars are warranted!

The expiration date issue mentioned in previous comments related to expired supplements under the brand name Swanson for this Turmeric supplement, is very misleading and more than a little confusing. I also received this Turmeric by Swanson. I immediately looked on the label and found the additional label added that conveniently appeared to cover the expiration date of 8/2013. I was shocked to find this so easily when I had just read the negative comments on Amazon. I quickly shot off negative comments and took the measures on-line to return the bottle that had just arrived.

Imagine my shock to receive a personal email, not a meaningless cookie cutter email, from Mr. Timothy Patton of NEOwurks that sent out the product through Amazon. He explained the circumstances of this labeling which he agrees is confusing. This date that is referred to in the comments, mine included, is the "manufactured" date. Their products have a shelf life of approx. 2 years which would put the expiration date at 8/2015. He also provided a link for further explanation. [...]

I so appreciated his follow-up and customer service related to my comments that I feel compelled to post this as well. Any company representative that goes to this level of customer service really gets my attention. It is unfortunately so rare these days that I literally will put this company at the top of my ordering list in the future!

Its good when considering the price. It did help with some of my joint pain and overall I felt better on it. However I wanted to try some other brands and there is better out there. You get what you pay for! I am using Turmeric Pro now TurmericPro - Turmeric Curcumin 95% 1,000mg servings. Its more expensive, but to me it is definitely worth the difference. The Swanson felt underdosed and would give me a stomach ache sometimes.

As a US trained physician with psoriatic arthritis, I had serious doubts that any herb or spice could be of any benefit. I noticed that after eating my mom's cooking (Indian) my knees oddly felt better. As Indian food has a lot of turmeric, my wife decided to buy this turmeric supplement and convinced me to try it.

Within a few days my knee pain started improving dramatically. With regular use, my pain level is about a 1-2/10 as compared to the 6-7/10 I was having previously. Being a man of science I decided to stop taking them to see if the pain came back, and sure enough it did. When I resumed the pills again the pain subsided once more. I have conducted this same experiment at least 5 times with replicable results.

All in all, this has done wonders for my psoriatic arthritis. I'm sure not everyone will benefit, but for me it has been invaluable.

I received an expired bottle in the mail today. Way to go Swanson for wasting my time and money. I'm still interested in the supplement but I'll take my business elsewhere.

When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is take two of these. It trims down any swelling in my face (baggy eyes, puffy skin from sleeping face-down, swollen parotids) and refreshes/awakens my appearance. No more chipmunk cheeks!
Most people know what it's like to cry at night and wake up with puffy eyelids that take forever to go away- turmeric quells that all down very quickly (especially on an empty stomach).
My boyfriend gets terrible allergies to where his nose swells and congests and he can't breathe out of it. These help him better than anything and with no typical allergy medicine side-effects.
It is claimed that turmeric has strong tumor-fighting properties, which, since it's anti-inflammatory, makes perfect sense.

There are certainly more reasons to take this, but either way, I'd recommend it.

I looked at quite a few products before deciding to purchase this one. It's a little too early to tell how well it functions as far as it's anti-inflammatory properties for arthritis etc, but I just wanted to point out something I overlooked before purchasing. The product contains Magnesium Stearate, which is an unnecessary filler agent that the manufacturer uses as an anti-caking agent. It keeps the ingredients from sticking to the machinery during production. Magnesium Stearate, or salt of magnesium, has several not-so-appealing side effects to include: toxicity, overdose, absorption problem, and immune responses. (source - [...] ) Anyway, it doesn't sound like a healthy choice at all. I gave this item a three, because it seems like a decent product except for the Magnesium Stearate. Further, there is no way of knowing how much is actually in there as it is not listed on the bottle. Turmeric is supposed to aid digestion and yet Magnesium Stearate inhibits absorption of nutrients during digestion. I noticed that there was at least one client who complained about this pill seeming to weak. Absorption could be part of the problem. I've also read that in VERY small amounts, it's not harmful, so I may bite the bullet and finish the bottle, but I will look elsewhere when I buy next time. There's even talk of Magnesium stearate being banned from supplements. (source- [...] ) Anyway, for what it's worth, take it or leave it, but I won't buy the product again, even if it feels like it's doing the job after a few weeks. There are plenty of other Turmeric supplements that are all natural or organic and don't contain MS and are still reasonably priced.
