Book Description

"It's not you."

There are only so many times a girl can hear those words before she believes that it is, in fact, very much her. Unexpectedly jilted by her locally famous boyfriend and haunted by a boss who makes Attila the Hun look like a lap dog, Bellamy Blake does what any self-respecting girl in her shoes would do. She rounds up her two best girlfriends and makes plans to get the hell out of Dodge. . .

But Bellamy's escape plan takes a nose dive on the side of rural route 164 when her transmission self-destructs, leaving her in the middle of a cell phone dead zone with nothing but her wits. Oh, and Shane Griffin, the hottest mechanic who's ever checked under her hood.

Yet this small-town man isn't all he seems. Can Shane and Bellamy prove that sometimes the most unlikely ingredients make the most deliciously sexy mix?

"Smart, fun, and heartwarming." --Jill Shalvis

"Kimberly Kincaid knows how to whip up a delicious love story." --Susan Donovan

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

After an embarrassing breakup and a stressful week at work, Bellamy Blake decides to escape the city for a girls’ weekend in the mountains. Of course, having her car break down was not in the plan. Shane Griffin hates everything about the city: the crowds, the traffic, and the poor little rich girls. So when the beautiful blonde with too-high heels and a fancy sports car wanders into his garage, he has her pegged immediately. Although his demeanor is prickly, Bellamy can’t help but be attracted to the sexy mechanic who is fixing her car, but the last thing she needs is another guy in her life. Both Bellamy and Shane are determined to avoid each other, but Mother Nature has other plans in mind. Kincaid (Pushing the Line, 2014) offers a seamless story that irresistibly mixes humor and passion. Thefirst book in her new cuisine-oriented Pine Mountain series stays true to Kincaid’s style, and includes recipes. Thiswell-written story is a delectable combination of sexy and sweet, and the series is sure to gain a dedicated following. --Patricia Smith

Bellamy Blake escapes from her life for a long weekend to a mountain resort with her two best friends. Her car breaks down on the way and can't be fixed for a week. The cute mechanic is belligerent, but he's the only one around. She decides to go back with her friends, but a blizzard snows the resort in. Bossizilla needs her back at work, not accepting she's snowed in so Bellamy quits. Now what?

Shane Griffin moved to the mountain 14 months before to help a sick old man save his service garage. He's got a history that no one knows about. Bellamy's big city car, looks and attitude turn him off, but he needs the job. Think Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl". Instant attraction is sparked but quickly banked. They are from two different worlds. They can't stop the flash igniting their passion, but then everything crashes and burns.

I love almost everything about this book, especially the finish. Great story and wonderful characters you can relate to. I prefer a little less narrative with the dialog. Let the dialog speak (pun intended). That in no way detracts from the story. Give this book a chance. I'll be in line for #2 "Gimme Some Sugar".

I received a gift copy for review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kimberly Kincaid kicks off a new series in style. March 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you love to read Jill Shalvis, then you are going to love Kimberly Kincaid. Especially if you like small town romances. This is the first full length book in the Pine Mountain series and it's fantastic. I can't wait to get my hands on the next two novels in the series.

I absolutely love this book, Shane Griffin and Bellamy Blake are two of my new favourite characters. Though some of the secondary characters in Jackson, Holly, Jenna and Grady are fighting for that spot.

This book sucked me in from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down till I was done, so good bye real life and hello Pine mountain. Why wouldn't it, when you have the super hot mechanic Shane and his best friend Jackson, the blonde bombshell in Bellamy and her friends Jenna and Holly. Add in the combustible chemistry between Shane and Bellamy and you get a perfect weekend read.

This is a fun, flirty, easy, hot read. I loved the banter and easiness between these two characters. Even in the heavier moments, there is still a lightness that flows between them. Throw in some hilarious scenes like when they get sprung by Jackson and the aftermath and you can see why I love this book.

When Bellamy is dumped by her boyfriend, rather meanly I might add, she decides to escape the rat race to relax and think with her friends. She didn't count on her car breaking down and getting stranded while it's fixed.

Enter Shane the mechanic, who has dramas of his own, not that he shares anything with anybody. But he's good at his job and that's what she needs. He takes one look at her car and declares it broken and it will need major repairs before she can go anywhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Heat is On. March 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Turn Up the Heat.......Kimberly Kincaid

Another delightful page turner, with laughter, scrumptious food, and a very hunky car mechanic. Oh and lots of snow! Imagine that!

Bellamy Blake was blindsided when her best friends Holly and Jenna call to inform her that her anchor man boyfriend, Derrick, had just announced on TV he was moving to San Diego for a new job, without a word to her! When confronted he said those three fateful words that turn every woman into a screaming banshee....."It's not you." Bellamy reminded herself that you should never date a man prettier than you.
After spending some time therapy shopping (lingerie and shoes of course) and answering numerous phone calls she was on her way home to spend the rest of her day doing her other favorite and baking. She contacted Holly and Jenna after seeing a billboard advertisement, and told them to pack their bags.....they were heading to Pine Mountain Resort for a girls get away.

Shane Griffin was underneath a car, worrying about how he was going to pay off a loan with out selling his vintage mustang, when the garage door blew open and a curvy little blonde blew in looking frozen, wet and seriously furious. Her car had broken down and she had walked in snow and freezing rain for two miles. He knew immediately she was a "city girl" and found guilty pleasure in calling her Princess. He agreed to check out her car, and gave her the very bad news. A new transmission, and it was going to take a week to fix. Bellamy's immediate thought? "Didn't Guiness have records for weeks this bad?" Shane was immediately turned on when he realized Bellamy could give as well as she could take.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Characters, Great Story! March 4, 2014
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
Not only does she have the best heroes, but the female characters aren't any slouches either!

Whew! This fabulous author definitely turned up the heat! I have read every single one of her novels (so far), so I knew from the beginning that this story would probably have more “steam” than I usually like to read, but I also knew that I absolutely had to read it.

I need to mention that if you don't care for steamy scenes in your novels, or a little language, you probably want to give Turn Up The Heat a pass, but if you are a fan of great characters and a fabulous storyline, then this is the read for you. There is a bit of language, but it suits the characters.

You can't have a great romance without a great hero, but this author has not settled for a great hero alone, but matched him move for move with an intelligent, strong, stubborn female heroine, who makes you love her too!

I absolutely loved Shane and Bellamy's story! Make sure you check out Turn up the Heat by Kimberly Kincaid!

More About the Author

Kimberly Kincaid writes contemporary romance that splits the difference between sexy and sweet. When she's not sitting cross-legged in an ancient desk chair known as "The Pleather Bomber", she can be found practicing obscene amounts of yoga, whipping up anything from enchiladas to éclairs in her kitchen, or curled up with her nose in a book. Kimberly is a 2011 RWA Golden Heart® finalist who lives (and writes!) by the mantra that food is love. She is thrilled to have collaborated on a Christmas anthology with Donna Kauffman and Kate Angell, titled The Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap, to kick off her Pine Mountain foodie series with Kensington this October. Her first full-length novel, Turn Up the Heat, will follow in February 2014. Kimberly resides in northern Virginia with her wildly patient husband and their three daughters. Visit her any time at or come check her out on Facebook and Twitter.
