Here we go again...another young singer with a voice that is world class..however, with songs that do not give her the oppurtunity to really get the respect and admiration that she deserves. Vanessa Amorosi is an unbelievable talent with a voice that can put Patti LaBelle, Tina Arena, even Celine on edge. Vanessa is still young which is evident in the less than inspiring pop/dance sound that she sings over. The song selection on the whole is just mediocre. If it weren't for the voice I would've passed on the this collection. There are some really good songs however...For instance "Tent by the Sea" a song that Vanessa wrote is actually a wonderful song with an expressive even intimate vocal. "Heroes Live Forever" the songs from the SYDNEY SUMMER OLYMPICS 2000 is gigantic. The vocal performance is one of the most impressive examples of pure vocal power and emotion I have ever heard with a closing note that she holds for a mere 25 seconds!! Vanessa Amorosi should break out of the teen/pop sound and sing more mature songs with a more organic production so that voice can shine even brighter.
Check this CD out for the singing alone...the songs are "good", at best, not great, yet the voice is PHENOMANAL!

If you haven't discovered Vanessa Amorosi that's too bad because you're missing out on great music! No other singer has made me go out and by import versions of the same album just to get more songs -- now there is this cd with TWO music videos and remixes and new songs, I was so excited to stumble upon it, I didn't know there was a new album out. Since Amazon has not yet got the track listing, here it is:

The only other place to get "heroes live forever" is on the german import single "have a look" or the olympiad cd, and if you live in the US as I do you'll love to see more music videos from Ms. Amorosi, this cd is totally worth it, if you search for her other albums you may have a chance to hear some song clips and trust me, that's all it will take to get you hooked! :) I have a varied taste in music (from iron maiden to alanis morissette to the corrs) but most of all I appreciate talent and you'll notice that Ms. Amorosi has a great voice and on top of that she writes most of her own stuff, enjoy!

It is so wonderful to see another great talent. I would love to see Vanessa hit North America with a bang. Her hit from her first album was released in North America (Absolutely Everybody)but she hasn't gotten too much more recognition beyond that. Out of all the young stars, I must admit, this young singer has what it takes. Her vocal range is outstanding! You thought Mariah Carey had it, well let me welcome you to another amazing talent. I think Mariah has new competition out there, especially with the HUGE vocal range Vanessa has. I also think she has the energy and talent of Celine Dion. Whether or not Vanessa has claimed her stake in North America, hang tight, I am sure you will hear her name mentioned, in the time to come!

Sure its out of print, but that's way too much for any CD!
Vanessa has just released her new CD after several years (Oct 2007.)
Lets hope we continue to enjoy her unique talent for a long time to come.

I'm giving this cd a 5 star rating because Vanessa has an amazing voice. Here's a short story, classic I'm sure in the music industry. Vanessa wanted to sing rock music but her record label wouldn't let her so she was forced to make pop music, which to Australia means budget/cheesy production/lyrics - basically generic American pop music (which is oh so stupid because 'Tent by the Sea' is such a pretty song that Vanessa wrote). How manufactured can you get? Anyway this obviously caused problems between her and them so this album is essentially made up of songs that didn't make the cut on her last album 'The Power', hence the appearance of older songs from her debut and the song she sung at the Olympics. Vanessa didn't want to release this record at all! And then they dropped her. So here we have an amazingly skilled singer with no record deal because Australia just doesn't get it *shaking my head*. If you ignore the bad production and just listen to Vanessa's voice and the passion she brings, you can enjoy it

Vanessa's title song, Turn to Me is a great feel good song. (And you should also watch the music video that goes with the song - it's great!) There are a few songs that are on her previous CD as well as this one, but, it is some of the best songs that are repeated, so that okay. I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes both up-beat dance music and slower music.

Vanessa Amorosi is so talented for someone so young. She has a powerful voice, can hold a strong note for the longest time and she writes much of her own material. She was outstanding at both the Sydney Olympics and Aussie Millenium Celebrations. "Turn To Me" is a great CD, and title song as is "Steam". "Heroes Live Forever" touches your heart, makes you feel great to be alive. From her previous CD "The Power", "Absolutely Everybody" has taken over down here from the Olympics to tv commercials. A great party starter! She's a crazy but down to earth young lady with a huge menagerie of animals and an old car you'd hardly expect of a young girl but she's great and will go far with her wonderful voice. Go Vanessa!

If you haven't heard the amazing vocal talent of this singer from "down Under"--you need to order this CD right now. I never heard of her until someone played her song "Heroes Live Forever" at a recent September 11th benefit. The song wasn't written specifically in honor of our fallen heroes--but it's uncanny how well it fits. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It's as if the words were written with our courageous firefighters and police who gave their lives that day. The chorus should be sung by us all: "Heroes Live Forever, Always We'll Remember." If your life was in any way touched by the tragedy of 9-11... this song will help bring healing into your heart.

I feel that this cd the works of a beginner to the music industry. Her original cd had a lot more power and strength behind it. I didn't feel that in this cd. I wish it was alot better, but it just really isn't. If you like her first cd, you won't like this one.
