5.0 out of 5 stars Turned Me On, December 4, 2006

I love this song, with its brooding beat and production. But I love it even more after Rename got a hold of it and turned it into one of the best remixes I have ever heard. Who knew?

While "Turn Me On" is a relatively slow and melancholy song (while being utterly beautiful as well), Rename sped up the bpm well above 120 and created a club hit!

I also enjoyed Wave In Head's remix. While not the floor-killer of the Rename version, it has some really cool blips and whirs which make for an enjoyable experience with repeated listenings.

The two Delobbo mixes are strong as well, but change the lyrical structure a bit too much for my taste.

Finally, "Unputdownable" is a nice mid-tempo song which offers a change-up to all the excellent remixes around it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just didn't 'turn me on' the way I had hoped., February 25, 2005
This review is from: Turn Me On (Audio CD)
"Turn me on" is one of my favorites of "6 Feet Underground" for it's superb lyrical pessimism and infectious mid-tempo beat. I chose this single over "I'm not dreaming of you" before hearing either song and I was very happy and excited to have done so when I did receive 6 feet in the mail a few days later, especially when checking out who would be doing the remixes( Wave in Head is a very respectable German synth band similar to DV ). While the mixes arent too bad and the Wave in Head remix did turn out to be a very nice, upbeat, dance-oriented confection, it was the presence of the original album version as the first track that definitely hurt this single the most because it blows all the others away.
Even though I am always game for a nice clubfriendly reworking, all the melancholy emotion of the original is missing and that really takes away from the song in this case because that emotion really was(is) the strength of the song itself. Although I am not completely disappointed I also secretly wish that there was some alternate version of the single featuring remixes by Icon of Coil and/or VNV Nation, bands that know how stretch the boundaries without destroying the formula.

"TURN ME ON" WAS AND IS MY FAVE SONG FROM THE 6FT UNDERGROUND ALBUM. AND QUITE HONESTLY I DIDN'T EXPECT IT TO BE A SINGLE. ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE BUZZ SURROUNDING "AIMEE". ANYWAY... THE RENAME REMIX IS THE BEST VERSION HERE AND COMPLETELY CHANGES THIS SONG INTO A CLUB CLASSIC AND RANKS IT AMONG ONE OF DE/VISIONS BEST SONGS. IF YOU MISS THE UPTEMPO SONGS OF THEIR PAST ALBUMS, THE RENAME REMIX WILL BRING IT ALL BACK FOR YOU.PICK THIS UP NOW!!!!
