Classic Rock Revival,
By Aidan Somerville "Aido" (Dublin, Ireland.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Turn It Over (Audio CD)
Definitely agree with the John Mellencamp/Van Morrison analogy. It's great to see this type of music around again, as it has been missing for too long, and is reminiscent of the greats like Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. There are some great rock numbers like "American Sound" and "Boys Alright", and "Cari's Song" then moving on to more soulful tunes like the beautiful "I wonder", a foot-tapping masterpiece that will keep you listening for hours and hours. Brilliant Album!

A great album,

I found this on mp3.com and gave it a listen. I was most impressed. This CD is interesting and different. Quite refreshing in a culture that currently favours dull, banal manufactured "music" (and I use the term loosely) with no soul or passion. As a fan of the style, I was most impressed with the title track, Turn it Over, and "Alive Again", a song that I should play during every hangover! Musically, the album covers a lot of different styles, possibly due to the diversity of the musicians involved. Steve Kimock's guitar work, for example, is excellent throughout the album, interspersed with moments of pure genius. Lyrically the album is interesting too, always passionate, but with a definite streak of humour running through it. OK, I've babbled enough, just buy the danm thing! If you, like me are bored of the manufactured, sanitised garbage being pumped at us by radio and record companies, you won't be disappointed. |
