5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and Amazing, March 23, 2004
This review is from: Turn It on (Audio CD)
I have been a huge Ro fan since his days in boyzone, but after the awkward period of his second solo album "Desitation" (coupled with reports that this album had not faired well on the UK charts) I was rather hesitant about purchasing "Turn It On" But, when I was in London shortly after it's release I decided to pick it up anyways and am VERY glad i did. What can I say? "Turn It On" is proof that Ronana has come full circle since his boyzone days. His first album was very poppy and very much like what he had done tiwh bz. In his second album he was trying to express himself, work on songwriting, and breakfree of his bz personna without alienating his audience - with questionable results. This Third album, however, shows that he has grown EXPONENTIALLY as a singer, songwriter, and as a person on the whole. The bonus tracks are genuinely good songs and not simply added on there to make you look like you are getting more. In fact the up-tempo "I Wouldn't Change a Thing" turned out to be one of my favourites on the whole album. The ballads on here, a thing that Ro has always excelled at, such as "Best in Me" are very emotinal and mirror the devotion and love that he has for his family and wife, while "Last Thing On My Mind" (a duet wtth country singer LeAnn Rimes) allows him to sing with someone from the genre of music that he seems to idolize. He has worked on albums in Nashville before, and he has worked with notable songwriters there as well, but to duet with a country singer for an album was a major step for him and the results were amazing. "Last Thing On My Mind" is "pop-py" enough to not lose his audience, but it has a hint of Nashville in it to help spice up the album. If you are looking for an easy listening album that is mature, polished, family friendly, and simply a wonderful listen this is the album for you .... please pick it up today and I promise that you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ronan TURNS IT ON with his 3rd Album, November 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Turn It on (Audio CD)
This is an amazing collection of songs which range from heart-felt love songs to summery and rocky tunes, which clearly showcases the impressive vocal range of Ronan's distinctive voice.

My favourites include TURN IT ON - a great summery song which you can just bop along to, FIRST TIME, which is simply a beautiful love song, LET HER DOWN EASY, sung with so much feeling, and BACK IN THE DAY, which is a great pop track that really gets you going.

The other tracks such as LOST FOR WORDS, SHE BELIEVES IN ME, ON MY WAY, THIS IS YOUR SONG, SHE GETS ME INSIDE, and the bonus track I WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING also rate a mention, as they each in their own right add a different dimension to this fabulous album.

The duet with LeAnn Rimes LAST THING ON MY MIND is a winner too.

This is Ronan's best album yet. This is MUST BUY!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Turn It On You Well Love It, January 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Turn It on (Audio CD)
Ronan has the best voice I have ever heard from any artist of any point in time. I have all of his albums and this one is by far his best work to date. His other albums are awesome in their own right. There is something here for everyone whether it be one of the best love songs you could ever hear with (First Time,This Is Your Song,On My Way) or if you're just in the mode to rock out with (Turn It On Again,Back In The Day). I have over 300 albums of all types of music, and this is by far the best one I own. Turn It On is worth ever penny and a whole lot more. You will not be sorry. So Go And Turn It On. The Best is yet to come. Keep Up The Awesome Work Ro.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great songs and an amazing voice !, February 14, 2004
This review is from: Turn It on (Audio CD)
I am from Ireland just like rRnan and have followed his career from when he was starting out in an Irish boy band, do not disregard him becasue of this, they had great success and some really beautiful songs e.g. No matter what. If you are new to Ronan's work you may still have heard his song 'when you say nothing at all' which was used on the film Notting Hill.

I had to write this review to promote Roanan in the USA, as you are really missing something special if you are being deprived of his songs over there! He is a very good, likeable person on top of having an amazing, heart felt voice which captures you with every song he sings. This album includes a duet with Leann Rimes which is one of the best songs on the album it is on Rimes' greatest hits also, Ronan is a very talented signer song-writer (also check out the long good bye which he wrote its very special). The album is literated with songs you an listen to over and over again dealing with different people in his life such as his mother in 'this is your song', his wife and family.

If you enjoy songs which have a good story, are simply beautiful and can make you laugh, smile and dream, buy this album. Make america realise what he has to offer!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a must buy CD, December 5, 2003

This has to be the best CD I have ever purchased. A great variety of up tempo songs and ballads. Ronan's voice is just amazing on each track. If you are reluctant to purchase this in the US because buying as an import is a bit more costly- this album is well worth the extra you will pay I would pay double for the quality of the music on this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars OfficiallyTruned It On, July 15, 2006
This review is from: Turn It on (Audio CD)
Great CD. His best by far (not including his 4th studio album "take you home" because i have not heared the one yet). He moves away from light and fluffy pop melodies and turns to a more pop/rock sounds with great results. The title track is great, and I Wouldn't Change A Thing is one of his best songs. Even the lyrics are better. Finally Ronan made the CD i knew he could. BRAVO!

5.0 out of 5 stars Such A Rich Voice, September 1, 2004
This review is from: Turn It on (Audio CD)
I LOVE this artist and can't get enough. He is my favorite male vocalist, along side of James Brown, Marvin Gaye and Kenny Rogers. Ronan has such a rich voice that adds so much depth, which allows him to remake songs from artists like Kenny Rogers and Garth Brooks. It is rare to find a male vocalist these days that has such an attractive, unique voice, who appeals to the broad-minded music lover. I never knew about Boyzone, but first heard Ronan on the Notting Hill movie. I caught his new collaboration with Leann Rimes and LOVED it so much. You can catch this video on Launch from the (US)Yahoo website. I have also been pushing my radio station to play some tracks from this album, but they are somewhat abhorrent to playing anything that is from across the pond. I won't give up though. Please buy this album, you will be glad you did and call your local radio station and let them know you want to hear it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ronan Must be a Nashville Fan, May 18, 2004

I had never heard of Boyzone, but I am a hardcore rock and country music fan, so when I first heard Ronan's interpretation of Keith Whitley's "When You Say Nothing at All," I fell in love. Ronan must be a country fan as well, as evidenced by his renditions of Garth Brooks' "If Tomorrow Never Comes," and Kenny Rogers' "She Believes in Me." The rest of his songs are equally great, including his new duet with LeAnn Rimes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easily in a class of his own, March 28, 2006
By
This review is from: Turn It on (Audio CD)
He was the heart and soul of Boyzone and since the break-up of the band has translated his success into his solo career. Following in the steps of Robbie Williams,Rob Thomas,Justin Timberlake---all of whom segregated themselves from their respective boybands and became highly accomplished solo artists---Ronan Keating has created a unique style for himself and "Turn It On" typifies the genius in this fantastic singer.

The best song in the album is undoubtably "She Believes (in Me)" as the solo artist's ability to sing a quiet melody underlined by a sullen hope is vividly portrayed in this song. The video too is touching and is bereft of any unnecessary bright pictures. The duet with LeAnn Rimes in the song "Last Thing on My Mind" is brilliant but the other one "Let Her Down Easy" is a disappoinment and "Best of Me" would have had more richness of emotions in it had it been sung by a much more serious and less flambuoyant vocalist.

On the whole, the CD is great but not as great as a fan of Boyzone or Ronan Keating would have aclaimed. Not the best of Ronan Keating anyhow.
