A seasoned performer still going strong...!,

This is one kick-ass country gospel album! No foolin'... '80s legend John Conlee is still a powerhouse performer, with a rich, robust voice that's every bit as strong today as it was twenty years ago when he was at his peak at a Top Ten hitmaker. Conlee is still in top form -- if anything, he's singing better now than most of today's current crop of "top country" stars. The music is also quite strong: where many contemporary gospel albums tilt towards cheesy, synthy, low-budget arrangements with tinkly keyboards, etc., Conlee keeps it country with a no-nonsense cosmopolitan twang that's the perfect frame for his deep, booming voice. In addition to numerous religious standards, it includes a new tune, "They Also Serve," Conlee's contribution to the current crop of patriotic country songs, which sings the praise of military families in a time of war. This album seems very heartfelt and purposeful... one of the best country gospel releases you're likely to hear for some time to come!

At Last - - A John Conlee Gospel Album,
By
This review is from: Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus (Audio CD)
If you're a Christian and love John Conlee and his magnificient voice, you will be thrilled with this gospel album. John Conlee and the people involved with producing this album have done a beautiful job. The love and passion he gives to each song makes you wish you attended John's home church and sat in the pew in front of him. This album has many of the great songs of the church on it but the song by Mak Kaylor and Micheal Puryear, "What Else Does He Have To Do," is an incredible song that should be put in every hymnal printed from here on out. John nails this song. The song by Tony Seibert and Jerry Holthouse, "They Also Serve," is a marvelous tribute to the families of our military who are left behind and sacrifice so much for liberties along with their loved ones in uniform. Get this album. You will love it and play it over and over.

I bought this CD for one song, 'They Also Serve'. I was pleased that the whole CD was enjoyable. There are many familiar hymns on the CD, some in new arrangements that I really liked.

Excellent gospel album. Very lyrical and stylized. Love the piano licks! Yeah, John! Great work! -- B.J. Tipton, Minister of Music & Christian counselor

I still haven't received this CD. I have written to the supplier twice, and to Amazon at least once. No replies. I give up. It's only $11.47. Keep it.
