Feel Better .... Live Better - Recognize and Appreciate the Essentials of Happiness

Inside every individual exists a powerful capacity for healing and transformation to stand up for the self-- truthfully. Our life path nudges us to move beyond personal doubts and fears through positive perception. Some people let defeat ruin them; others let victory ruin them. It is neither the win nor the loss that makes you triumphant, only the feelings about yourself.

In Turn On Your Inner Light Debbie Eisenstadt Mandel draws the reader out of the cocoon, the dark place where there is no room to breathe or feel and into the light of creativity and empowerment. She frees the mind with original recipes for fitness, meditation and prescriptions for health. The workouts are physical affirmations for specific, corresponding mindsets and are progressive as the reader advances in strength and spirit. Debbie’s warm and loving style creates a series of shared confidences to help the reader find a personal balance between earth practicality and spiritual vision. Turn On Your Inner Light inspires you to read life in order to live with a sense of "who you are."

Turn on Your Inner Light offers a creative merger of original exercises, meditations, and mind/body prescriptions for 29 common life challenges. The exercises are clearly and entertainingly delineated with over 200 artistic illustrations. Stress reduction techniques and positive perceptions help the reader move beyond personal doubt and fear to empowerment and true identity. Foreword by Bernie S. Siegel, M.D.

About the Author

Debbie Eisenstadt Mandel, M.A. New York University Graduate School of Arts and Science is a noted motivational speaker and university lecturer. She is an expert on stress reduction and has conducted popular workshops on healing, sleep solutions and transforming stress into strength. She has been featured on radio, TV and various publications. Mandel is a second generation holocaust survivor who is determined not to survive, but to live. In addition to teaching English literature and writing on the high school and college levels, she has devoted years to studying and developing a panoramic and analogous view of Chinese herbal medicine, health and fitness, Western medicine, Zen philosophy, Kabalistic healing and literary patterns. She believes that nowadays when we live longer, we need to learn to live more fully. This creative merger of archetypes, stories and science gives shape and depth to her theme: a journey toward recognizing and appreciating the essentials of happiness. By freeing the self from the past story, one can create the present story. Living in balance: physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual, is the source of energy and joy.

More About the Author

I am most proud of my latest book "Addicted to Stress: A Woman's 7-Step Program to Reclaim Joy and Spontaneity in Life." I love doing stress-management workshops for people from all walks of life: cancer survivors, attorneys, the elderly, nuns, teachers, medical personnel, young mothers, children and others. I listen to their stories and get asked the really tough questions. I am passionate about writing - I get ignited by creativity. Looking for a different angle, a fresh approach means everything - the process of being unique. Also, I have an outrageous sense of humor which helps me to step outside the box; no, I have actually broken the box!

To help me get the word out I produce and host a weekly stress-management /fitness radio show, the Turn On Your Inner Light Show in NY on AM1240 WGBB radio 7:00- 7:30 PM Eastern time Tuesdays. By the way the show streams live on the internet. Each week I interview a guest expert, usually a best selling author, give you the latest health tips and conclude with a segment from an elite trainer, Frank Mikulka, who addresses a weekly fitness question asked by the audience.

If all that isn't enough, I create and run an educational website with a free weekly newsletter. You can even listen to over 100 archived radio shows. Check it out: www.turnonyourinnerlight.com

Why am I doing all of this? I'm a second-generation holocaust survivor, who took care of two parents who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, which makes me determined not to survive, but to really live. I delight in the ordinary and appreciate every little thing. My mission is to get the word out about happiness.

As a result of having confronted the "darkness" to appreciate the "light", I created a bold, new program, a creative merger of fitness and spirituality as a comprehensive response to the question: "Debbie, what is the secret to your constant happiness?" My books take you by the hand guiding you to live with a sense of who you are as you advance in strength and spirit.

After a first career as an English professor, I embraced mind/body fitness and devoted years to studying stress-management. However, my best credential is what my workshop participants have bestowed: "Sunshine Girl."

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a Must Read. Don't miss it!, February 12, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Turn On Your Inner Light: Fitness for Body, Mind and Soul (Hardcover)
I was looking for some fresh ideas in stress-management. While I was searching the internet, I discovered Debbie Mandel's site on
www.BellaonLine.com. She has a lot of articles posted there on current issues and I really liked what she had to say and the way she said it, a bit differently. Then I saw her book, Turn On Your Inner Light and I bought it. I loved the way the book had 29 specific chapters and gave me strategies for my mind, body, and spirit- the whole me. I started doing the exercises, imaged the visualizations and began to reinterpret the negatives in my life into positives. I'm not on a diet, but I am eating healthier and more frequently as the book recommends. I have more energy and I am doing things, getting out there instead of sitting by the phone and waiting. Like Debbie writes, "I made up my mind to be reasonably happy." The key word as she puts it is reasonable. People need to find out about Debbie Mandel.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Helped Me See Beyond Cancer, January 12, 2005
This review is from: Turn On Your Inner Light: Fitness for Body, Mind and Soul (Hardcover)
I read and followed the steps to freedom outlined in Turn On Your Inner Light. I truly learned how to live after my battle with cancer. I was treated like a little lab rat, spoken about like I was invisible, lost my job, my husband and even custody of my two children. Turn On Your Inner Light showed me that I could do so much more than just survive, I could thrive.

I followed Debbie Mandel's easy to follow suggestions including starting an exercise program. So I began to look at my own world differently. I began by taking control. If I didn't respect myself, who would? I began with the visiting nurse. I easily told her that if she didn't respect me as a human being, I would request another. The nurse's attitude quickly changed. What Happened? The nurse quickly felt my self-respect and responded accordingly. I also exercised my visitation rights and was reunited with my children. And finally and most wonderfully, I am now practicing law again and am having a romance with life.

I took back my power! And if I did it, you can do it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars It helped me see the light!, September 9, 2003
By
Alyssa (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Turn On Your Inner Light: Fitness for Body, Mind and Soul (Hardcover)
My friend gave me a gift while I was going through an unpleasant divorce and had put on about twenty pounds of frustration. Her gift to me was a book called, Turn On Your Inner Light. I said, "Who is Debbie Mandel and who is she to tell me how to find my balance?" My friend said, "Take it," and closed the door. The book looked pretty enough, so I flipped through the chapters. Unlike any self-help book I had read by the famous people, this book was divided into specific topics. I didn't have to read 200 pages before I knew what to do. I was anxious enough. So I first read the chapter, "Training for Divorce" and I liked the original mind/body prescriptions telling me how to take care of myself, support myself and develop myself. Then I did the workouts and I felt better, especially the one called, "Ducking the blows of recrimination." I finished off with a meditation and I put myself together. I felt lighter and happier. I knew that I would get over this. Then I read the chapter "Training to Love Yourself." I followed her advice. I did the meditation and began to do her interval training workout. At first I did it at the beginner level, now I am advanced. I don't know how much weight I lost, because I threw out my scale, but I went down two dress sizes! Next I read the chapter on "Anger Management," "Burnout," "Insomnia," and "Disappointment." I loved the chapter on "Romance," Intimacy." Now I am up to "The Bedroom." I gave the book to my new boyfriend-I want to start this relationship off right. Turn On Your Inner Light helped me to find my spark and gave me confidence. Now I know who Debbie Mandel is and why she wrote this book. Whoever reads Turn On Your Inner Light will have a powerful life coach.
