Details the creation and first year of the Atlanta Braves' spectacular new ballpark.
Born and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio, Gary Caruso graduated from Marietta (Ohio) College, which is the subject of his book that will be released March 25, 2012, by The History Press. "Marietta College Baseball: The Story of The 'Etta Express" is about the defending - and record five-time - NCAA Division III Baseball Champions. It is filled with compelling human interest stories about the individuals that make this one of the most-successful college baseball programs in the nation.
Caruso is best known for his work pertaining to the Atlanta Braves franchise which includes the three other books featured here. A career-long sports journalist, he conceived the Warren Spahn Statue that stands outside Turner Field in Atlanta, raised all the funds for it, and gave the main dedication speech. He later delivered the eulogy for Spahn, the winningest lefthander in history, and also gave the eulogy for Lou Burdette, another great Braves pitcher that was MVP of the 1957 World Series victory over the Yankees.
Additionally, Caruso designed and scripted the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium mural that's on permanent display at Turner Field. He now lives in San Diego.
