I was really looking forward to this game. I had read the reviews and thought the premise was awesome, then I played it.

Well, the premise of the game is still good. Nazi's attack America after defeating England in WW2. The graphics look like they still believe it is the 1990's and the PS2 is new. I saw the video trailer, which IS a good representation of the game, and thought that that must be the "work in progress". I was wrong. There is nothing that makes me think that this game is even pushing the envelope of what the PS3 is capable of. The weapons are not as realistic looking as COD4 and the enemies look like they fell out of Wolfenstein.

I have yet to finish the game...not sure if it will keep me interested enough. With a whopping 8 person multiplayer (This is a joke), I might have to go back to COD4.

My biggest regret with this game is convincing my friend to buy it too.

If you like FPS's then stick to COD.

2.0 out of 5 stars Defnitely a Let Down, March 5, 2008
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (Video Game)
This game was definitely a let down. I have yet to finish it, and I'm up in the air about if I want to invest the time in doing so.

The premise is great and honestly is what got me to buy this game in the first place, but that isn't able to out weigh everything else that is bad about the game.

The graphics are not in keeping with the PS3. The characters look like they were rendered for the PS2. Every enemy death is the same whether you shoot them in the leg or the head (good luck getting that aimed in). The explosions are just inserted animations with no area effects. At one point I shot an exploding barrel and after the explosion animation the other barrell right next to the original one was still there. The frame rate gets jumpy every once in awhile and the game stops completely to load a new area.

When you have shooterss like Resistance or Call of Duty 4, you can't get these things wrong. In fact if you want a shooter get either one of these especially COD4. Look for this game to soon fill the shelves of your favorite used video game store.

2.0 out of 5 stars Glad I didn't buy it, March 19, 2008
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (Video Game)
I rented this game from Blockbuster, because I thought the premise of the game sounded fantastic, but the preview video looked a little rough. Well the game turned out to be a little rough as well. PS2 style graphics, the bad guys will just charge you while you shoot them down. the list goes on and on... I played it for two days and took it back early. I am giving this 2 stars overall only because the "what if" history story is cool.

The online game play was pitiful as well.

Too bad because I think they creators had a great idea, just bad follow through.

This game takes you from the Brooklyn Streets to the exquisite Nazi Suites playboy and doesn't miss a lick. I just can't deal with games with maps that have you just traveling aimlessly from one side to the other with just scenery. Im still playing it and enjoying every minute. This game is a must have 1st person shooter and cheap but worth waaay more kinda like Dark Sector. I was discouraged from buying this game because of the comments on YouTube but my uncle talked me into it and Im glad he did.

This review is from: Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (Video Game)
Upon starting Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, you can see right off the bat that this game is lacking in several categories. The graphics are flat out terrible. I feel like I'm playing a PS2 game at some points, though the background during game play are not all bad. As far as scenery goes, there were some moments that were cool (i.e. Zeppelin docked to the Tower Bridge in London) but everything else was fairly normal. This game also has a serious problem with loading, and believe me you'll know what I mean when you see it. You'll be walking and the game will stutter or stop for 2 or 3 seconds and then you'll keep going. It's flat out annoying.

Game play is not atrocious, but 2 things that did bother me.
1) Your trigger is R2 and to aim is L2, so if you are at all used to playing pretty much any other shooting genre of game, it's gonna take some getting used to. And you will die a lot from this, Because R1 (where the trigger should be) is your GRENADES, which don't go very far no matter how much you want them too.

2) When you stand in front of most things to activate them (e.g. an elevator button, a lever) You have to move around to find EXACTLY the right spot. There was more than on occasion when I activated a switch and I was standing OUTSIDE the elevator.

I would certainly rent the game for the sheer storyline (which I did) before you do anything. I also liked the cool Environmental dependent hand to hand situations you can have with the Nazi's (throwing them off a bridge, crushing them under trucks, etc.) Just complete the game on "easy," return it, and go buy Call of Duty 4.

1.0 out of 5 stars Leave this one for the history books, January 11, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (Video Game)
What if the Nazis had won world war two? For that matter, what if, having conquered all of Europe, Hitler's armies invaded the United States? Imagine that you're a construction worker on a building when suddenly, missiles slam into the girders around you. Looking up, you see the impossible...a fleet of Nazi zeppelins descending upon your city, accompanied by a fleet of warships, and backed up with hundreds upon hundreds of jets and fighters sweeping among the skyscrapers, blasting everything in sight.

It's a terrific premise for a video game, but unfortunately, that's all "Turning Point" has going for it.

"Turning Point" is your standard first person shooter. You run around shooting those dastardly Nazis, gathering and swapping weapons as needed, and interacting with the environment at various moments to activate bridges, man machine gun turrets, and plant bombs. All pretty standard affairs with nothing too extraordinary, save for being able to occasionally grapple an enemy in hand to hand combat, whereupon you can either take them hostage as a human shield, or kill them easily. While most of those kills are variations of knocking them out with your fists, bashing them with weapons, etc. a few are occasionally quite humorous, such as chucking a paratrooper off a skyscraper, tossing a thug into a furnace and locking the doors shut (Irony!), or drowning one unfortunate soldier in a toilet bowl.

However, aside from its instant kills and the fantastic premise, "Turning Point" doesn't really work, for the simple fact that it feels unfinished. With such a Hollywood caliber premise, the story in "Turning Point" is practically non-existent, outside of a handful of cut scenes. Characters come and go at random, and are all equally forgettable. The player character is a construction worker who wears a red shirt and has no personality, motives, or goals, and is frequently sent in by trained marines to do their dirty work.

Gameplay is average, with not much to distinguish it. Your foes are competent, though not particularly smart. They'll attack you en mass to try and make up for their average AI, which largely resorts to ducking behind obstacles and chucking LOTS of grenades (one big problem: the grenade indicator does not tell you how close a grenade is to your position, which makes it nearly impossible to figure out if you're going to get hit or not). If you take too much damage, you have to retreat to heal, which happens very quickly, as you heal in about three seconds, no matter how much damage you take. However, this won't help you in the last third of the game, which throws hordes of enemies your way who have much better accuracy then their first and second level counterparts. In one nightmarishly difficult sequence on a bridge, you'll be assaulted by at least ten guys with rockets, rapid fire sniper rifles, combat shotguns, a few blimps, and even a giant zeppelin. Add in the fact that checkpoints are few and far between, and the last act of the game, or most of the game for that matter, just isn't any fun.

In keeping in line with the thin story, levels are connected by the barest of threads. At the beginning of the game, your goal is to escape and head to Washington. After a cut scene, you're suddenly in a safe house and have to defend it, with no explanation of how you got there, or what you were doing there in the first place. This jumpy feeling pervades every area of the game, and as a result, we have no emotional interest in it. Even when we're told that the fate of the world is in our hands, we just don't care. There's so much potential in this world for a great story, and it's left completely untapped. When the end credits rolls around, we're left wondering why we didn't see more of it. Is Hitler still alive? Does Canada and Mexico join forces with the United States? What about Japan and Russia? We never find out the answers to these questions, and countless others.

It's a shame really. While the first level of the game does an outstanding job immersing you in the world, once you exit the skyscraper, it all goes down hill. "Turning Point" is proof that a fantastic idea can only go so far without good execution. While it has an outstanding premise and a fantastic opening sequence, a non-existent story, poor characters, and unfinished feel make it a dull game that is ultimately not worth your time.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's an OK game., September 20, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

I think it's an ok game. The graphics are old but they aren't that bad, the game actually has better physics than some of the top end graphics games out there in some fighting parts of it.

If you have problems with the controls then you shouldn't be playing 1st person shooters period, the controls are easy. The enemy AI is just like the game, ok.

I would say the more experienced you are with gaming the more you will like the game and vice versa.

This game was a complete letdown. I agree with the other reviewers that the story line was a good idea, but in the end it was presented horribly. I played through the first level and put the game back in its case due to dissapointment in graphics, motion and shooting. The game comes no where near close to pushing the envelope of the PS3. I regret spending the $60US to buy it.

I simply cannot believe this game is from CodeMasters, and that it is a PS3 title. CodeMasters is known for taking great care to craft quality titles and I can't imagine what happened with this one, it's a riddle. And the PS3 has so much power and potential, there really is no excuse for such a terrible waste of time and money. This game is simply awful. The graphics are PS2 quality at best... in fact, I can think of several PS2 shooters that look better, play better, sound better, and are just a lot more fun than this garbage. (Killzone and Black, for example.) The controls are not very intuitive (e.g. R2 is the trigger button and R1 is the alt fire button, permanently) and only one or two button functions can be changed. Plus the zoom/aim function is toggle only and cannot be changed to "hold" mode. I would give this game one star except the story is pretty original, that part they got right but even then the execution is tragic. 2 stars

2.0 out of 5 stars Turning Point: Fall of Exceptional Games, February 6, 2010

This game had a promising premise with a reinvention of the events of World War 2. Unfortunatly the game itself could not match it's premise. The game is falty in many many ways. The gameplay is hindered by tons of glitches. Just walking in this game is difficult. The game loads slowly and you are constantly being straifed by the game itself as it loads the environment. The camera angle shakes when you walk down stairs, also the iron sites are the bulkiest I have ever seen in a fps. They are basically unusable. This means that the gunplay is terrible. You are constantly just using crosshairs. Also picking up ammo is a problem as you have to look at the gun on the ground as you walk over it, in order to pick it up.
The story is not well developed either. You only find out what is going on in a mission when you actually do it. They give you no background on the mission. You constantly feel like you are left in the dark. The graphics are decent for when the game came out, they're not too flashy but they are probably the best part of this failure of a game. The ending leaves you with a sense of annoyance as it really doesn't have a good conclusion. You never even hear your character talk in the game, he just listens to everyone else. The campaign is rather difficult at times not because of fair challange, it is only because the game appears to glitch through walls and spawn behind you. There isn't even a good melee system as you have to wait until a fist pops up before you can hit the enemy. Sometimes it doesn't even come up, and the enemy shoots you to death. The game has the feel of a Medal of Honor game, the only differance is that Medal of Honor has decent controls. This game has some of the worst controls in a game that I have ever played. It does have alot of action, but there are alot of frustrating moments that plague that action. I paid ten bucks for this game and I'm still angry at the low level of development that was involved.
