A trusted music-head friend of mine recommended I check out Side FX, and I'm so glad I did. I got this CD a few weeks ago, and since then it's been in constant rotation on my car stereo.
Side FX has a huge range of sounds/styles. They can sound like a modern update on The Police, then they throw in some tasty Santana-esque lines and a flute solo. Their jazz songs are elegant and grooving. And Kim, the singer, really does sound sultry!
Overall, I really like this album's feel. From start to finish, each song sounds unique and interesting. No filler songs here. You can tell that the musicians in Side FX are first rate, but their skills don't outshine the songwriting.
Definitely check this album out!
