This book investigates the Masonic significance of Washington, D.C. and explores the Masonic truth behind the astral alignments of its main features.

This book, at its heart, explains why high-achieving individuals share certain astrological characteristics, and why the Freemasons who founded our nation planned Washington, D.C. the way they did.

Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

Turning the Solomon Keyis an exhilarating quest to discover the Masonic influences which George Washington brought to bear on the layout of the Federal City. Using Masonic rituals and Washington's own diaries Lomas uncovers the symbolic reasoning behind the sitting of the White House and the Capitol, and in the process disposes of many anti-Masonic urban myths. This exciting and authoritative detective story also investigates the sources of creative behavior, to reveal an until now unsuspected secret science of Masonic astrology which underpinned Washington's actions.

The rising of the Bright Morning Star, so celebrated in Masonic ritual, does have a measurable effect on creativity and achievement in a society. Combining the work of statisticians, economists, and anthropologists, Lomas reveals startling insights about the mechanisms which reinforce Masonic astrology.

Lomas shows how Washington was a prime candidate to become a high achiever and was sensitized by patterns of ionospheric pulses which helped shape his growing brain. The theory says he would have been inspired to new creative heights when the Bright Morning Star appeared in the dawn sky without knowing why. Washington's Masonic knowledge of the ritual of the Key of Solomon explained this spiritual uplift and Lomas shows how he set out to share this source of inspiration with his newly founded country.

Lomas's previous book Turning the Hiram Key is the first of a trilogy investigating the purpose of three ritual keys to Freemasonry held by legendary Grand Masters: Hiram Abif; Solomon, King of Israel; and Hiram, King of Tyre.

I was looking for some real-world facts about Masonic tradition after reading the fictitious "Lost Symbol." Robert Lomas' book provided some. I found it helpful!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Theory, November 2, 2007

I began this book with anticipation and especially after I learned one of my favorite authors, Katherine Neville wrote the Foreword. Lomas' research into the mysteries of the Freemasons and Geo. Washington's impact on the layout of Federal City also known as Washington D.C. leads the reader through a maize of research into the brain, including those of rats and the influence of the gravitational pull of certain planets.

Lomas uses the term "Bright Morning Star" as representing the planet Venus, which is not a star. Lomas alleges or attempts to prove a theory that successful men of history were born under the influence of "when any of the moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn was rising or at culmination."

As a researcher, I find this theory interesting and that a freemason would believe that "Bright Morning Star" is a symbol for Venus. This was a misnomer that over many years was given to the planet. From researching Freemasonry and its intent, I would think the true seeker would realize that the five-pointed star or pentagram was the symbol for man and indicating that the journey in life was to discover that the "Bright Morning Star" is the spiritual inner self that has been hidden for eons. Leonardo DaVinci's drawing of the human figure indicating the shape of the pentagram indicates this was known to him or her. Yes, there is a possibility that Leonardo was a woman masquerading as a man.

There are other aspects that govern the success of any person - not only the men, but women. The success of any person is determined by their thoughts, emotions and what the person came into this world to experience. Reincarnation plays an important part because everyone has a destiny and if they don't fulfill it in one lifetime, then the person keeps coming back.

The brain is also an interesting computer and yes, it can be influenced by the gravitational pull of the moon and planets. However, I would think that this is only a fraction of the picture when one considers the programming of the computer brain by parents, siblings, peers, school, religion, and government.

Regarding George Washington's diary entries, it is known that he was a gentleman farmer and he was wise enough to study nature and the gravitational pull of the planets on his crops. Apparently the Farmer's Almanac had learned this secret. There is very little known about the intelligence of Martha Washington, however it could be that she had brains also since she was already a wealthy widow when George married her.

In summary, I think this is a book that has some merit and perhaps Lomas will research about the deeper meaning of Freemasonry. Bettye Johnson, award-winning author Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls.

I like the books written by Robert Lomas. They are authoritative and provide vast insight into historical data that seems to remain hidden in the public domain. Another of his good books.Shaking the Tree
