This is a very practical book to make home decor items. The pictures jump off the page and make you want to begin all the projects at once. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. End results are exactly as pictured. Wonderful book!!

Disappointing,

Had I seen the inside of this book before purchasing it, I would not have purchased it. I bought this book because I liked the picture on the front and I wanted some new ideas for placemats. Unfortunately, I did not find anything outstanding in this book. Most of the projects are so easy that a seasoned sewer could look at the pictures and make the item with no pattern. There are a few projects included (table runner and potholders) that are raw edge applique. They are very unappealing. I would never waste my time making them. They are simply various size circles cut out and appliqued on top of each with a raw edge. The circles in her project picture appear to be cut by hand as they look uneven and sloppy. I probably should have returned this book.

Not what I thought,

The title of the book led me to believe that the projects inside would be projects written for charm squares, layer cakes, or Jelly Rolls. Instead most of the projects use fat quarters and you cut your own strips and squares. On top of that I am really annoyed with the way the projects are laid out. For example, I saw a really cute table runner that I wanted to make. The book does not provide JUST the directions, project list, and cutting guide for the table runner. It lumps the table runner in with the matching pot holders, casserole holder and floor rug. Yes I can figure out what I need and how to cut...but I was looking for something simple and straight forward, not something I have to calculate and "figure out". Will keep the book though and try making the stuff in it...if even just to give the things I don't need away as gifts or to sell on ebay.

I bought this mostly as a techniques book - certain things I want to adapt to other products. Pictures are nice, directions seem clear. Not a whole lot of new things for me as I sew every day, but worth the money for the couple of new techniques I will try.

This is an excellent book for beginning quilters. I found it easy to follow and like the patterns. A friend bought the book in a town about 100 miles from my town and I couldn't find it in any of our craft stores. But I found it on AMAZON! Thanks.
