If you always wanted to hear what Soft Machine sounded like as a trio live, well here is one of your only chances. The first half is a concert recorded with the Kevin Ayers line up circa the first album and supposedly a much better representation of what that band sounded like than the album. Next there is a solo organ track (very avant-classical sounding.) and then a big loud jamming concert of the trio with Hugh Hopper circa their 2nd LP. This one is really an in your face performance. So if you are a big fan and just have to hear what these lineups of the band sounded like live, I highly recommend this disc. Just know that the sound quality of these shows are pretty abysmal but well worth your having to fill in the aural gaps with your imagination to really hear what this great band sounded like back when they were opening up for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The sound samples here on Amazon are not from this disc. Buy this for the second concert and get Middle Earth Masters if you only want to hear the Kevin Ayers Trio and a better sounding recording/master.
