4.0 out of 5 stars Almost a flawless corridor shooter
Before the Nintendo 64 ever came out, "Turok: Dinosaur Hunter" was one of the games that I couldn't wait to play after seeing the previews of it in various magazines. When I finally got to play it, I was impressed with everything in the game, except for one problem. The game is one of the hardest corridor shooters I've ever played, and still is to this date...

Before the Nintendo 64 ever came out, "Turok: Dinosaur Hunter" was one of the games that I couldn't wait to play after seeing the previews of it in various magazines. When I finally got to play it, I was impressed with everything in the game, except for one problem. The game is one of the hardest corridor shooters I've ever played, and still is to this date. The graphics with the mystical backgrounds and cool-looking dinosaurs, couldn't have been much better. The control is just like it needs to be and the sound and music also go great with the game. The only bad thing about "Turok: Dinosaur Hunter" is that most of the levels are almost impossible to pass, and there could've been a multiplayer game to give the game some better replay value.

While you play Turok, you can use several weapons, and you'll have to make your way across some levels by doing such feats as going swimming and climbing tall vines to get to where you need to be. "Turok: Dinosaur Hunter" is a great corridor shooter in just about every way and I recommend everybody to give it a shot. Just be prepared for a great challenge.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but........., May 11, 2000

When I first got my N64, I got this game, along with Star Fox (Which is an amazing game I might add) and Mario Cart. At first, I hated it. The levels were insane to me. Now, I have got to be a better gamer, and I like this game. I still think it's hard, and if you're a novice gamer, I can't recommend this game. If you're looking for a nice challenge, try out this game. By the way, the graphics, especially the death scenes, are amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Listen To The Guy From Reno, May 2, 2000

Don't listen to the Reno-Reviewer. This game is fun. There are assorted weapons, even a nuke. You have to fight off dinosaurs, regular humans who do look like they have been on steroids, and giant weird monkey-like dudes. There is also the Tek bow, which shoots nuclear-tipped arrows. If that goes in an enemy, they usually fly sky-high. This game is fun. And if you like destroying dinosaurs, this game is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Landmark Acclaim Game - Unreal Visual Simulation, March 22, 2005

In 1997 Acclaim brought the very first Arcade quality first person shooter to the N64 with Turok, a primordial theme that defined future genres that would have to actually animate the end level bosses making them more realistic, trying to match what Speilberg did four years earlier, and come very close, meaning Turok was probably some of the best animation ever seen in a 1st person shooter. The story, the levels, the enemy AI, all of this was very impressive for its time and ACCLAIM have stayed ball players because of it. The graphics had people in AWE. This was the end of 1996 start of 1997. I had never played or seen anything like this before. The N64 was an awesome engine. ACCLAIM delivered a stunning entry game. Never forget it. WOW.

This is a great game for any who enjoy sitting down and getting involed in an interactive futuristic adventure that blends dinosaurs, mechanical baddies, puzzle solving skill, and of coarse a arsenal of high-tech weaponry to grease them all. It's so easy to get into it's unbelievable. The music and sound pulls you right into it.

5.0 out of 5 stars TUROK - DINOSAUR HUNTER, October 25, 2002

I love this game. It's raw, violent, gory, and just plain awesome! I have played this game numerous times and still can't get enough of it. It has some neat levels, cool weapons, and a lot of great codes. This is one of my favorite shooting games ever! I like it, and you probably will too. I wish they'd create this game on the X-box. That would be even better! This game allows you to use mini guns, shotguns, plasma rifles, bow & arrows, and other cool guns & weapons.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Game, but..., July 2, 2001

"Turok: Dinosaur Hunter" is one of the best games out there if your the type of person who likes GoldenEye 007. There are many types of of weapons (such as a pistol, knife, rocket launcher, grenade launcher, rifle, lazer, and yes a "nuclear bomb" launcher. To go along with the weaponry, this game has the best graphics (and details -- ex. dinosaurs and landscape) and "human movement" I have ever seen. Unlike GoldenEye, there is a LOT more blood in this game. You can even make it green! The levels in this game, however, are so massive they get very complex to follow . It is a VERY challenging game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Freakin' Game On The 64 Console, July 13, 2002

If i could fit more stars on my rating......believe me, they would all be filled. this is a game that will totally relax all the nerves in your body that tense when you just know you need something to BLOW UP! You start out in a jungle with a hunting knife and a bow and arrow. As you go along on your journey, you will soon discover more sinister weapons...such as the assault rifle, energy rifle, and even the spectacular chronoscepter.
the guns have amazing effects on the wide variety of blood-thirsty villains you will find trying to kill you throughout this game. the audio is great, the graphics are great. the gameplay will leave your mouth watering in the need for MORE! You'll literally blow different species of dinosaurs off the screen, you'll hit a dude throwing grenades in the throat and leave him to die in realistic groans of death such as AAAAAAHHHHHH!!! and AAAUUUGHHHHHHH! and also HWAAAAAAAAHK!! and many others that you will grow familiar with. i would recommend this game to anybody i would see. even if you're already hooked on the later models of game consoles such as the Xbox and GameCube, i'd imagine any person with a lust for action and a need for vile weaponry and revenge against small digital men would find this game more than appealing! Need I say more? have you gotten the tip? have you taken the notes? i hope you've found this review helpful. i've tried to bring this game alive in words, but i think even the creators would find it nearly impossible to achieve such a goal. Happy Hunting!

loads of fun playing this game again! brings back good memory's with old friends staying up til 5 in the morning playing video games until we beat them. The 2nd game Seeds Of Evil is just as fun and if you liked this one then you should own Turok 2: seeds of evil! hope everyone enjoyed the game as I have! wish they made games like this ya know like having 10 weapons in your arsenal, amazing and memorable sound effects, the best deaths I've seen in gaming! I mean it i mean kill people in gears of war is awesome but why awesome when you can be the best! take your time to look at the way they die in both games and I'm sure you'll see why!
