Thankfully, all this is backed up by great gameplay--an entirely new game engine has been developed for next-gen hardware, and though Turok Evolution is principally a first-person shooter, in certain levels you're backed up by a squad of allies, and in others you get to ride a flying dino with strap-on rocket launchers. The advanced AI means that both enemies and allies behave in a realistic manner and will adapt their tactics depending on whether you approach with stealth or force. There are over 60 stages across a variety of single- and split-screen multiplayer modes, with different difficulty levels for rookies or experts. Turok Evolution is an absolute must-have for FPS fans. --Rikki Price

If Turok: Evolution is your 1st FPS, you might just love it.,

I've never gotten deeply into the First Person Shooter genre. Why did I buy this game, then? I looked at the Turok website and liked what I saw, so I took a gamble. For my money, that gamble paid off. Turok: Evolution places you in a fantasy world--make note of that, especially those who whine about hurting poor defenseless dinosaurs. When you see four tons of Anklosaurus equipped with rocket launchers (we're remembering we're in a FANTASY WORLD, aren't we?) bearing down on you, your qualms about firing a few rounds into a dinosaur fade rather rapidly. As for the other dinos--if they don't attack me, I don't attack them. (You don't have to either.) The game gives you two levels to get a feel for the FPS controls and the flying controls (slightly different, but easy enough to become familiar with), then you're into the thick of the action. As I've mentioned, I don't have much FPS experience, and Chapter 3, part 2, took over ten hours to beat. Sometimes I made stupid mistakes, sometimes the dinosoids (humanoid dinos w/armor and weapons) did me in. Through persistence and by learning from my mistakes, I made it. What's so great about Turok: Evolution--it's a challenging game, and it's fun to boot. There are things to consider if you're a hardcore gamer--Acclaim did not provide a multiplayer mode that allows one person to fight the computer ("bots"); On some levels, some of your weapons are restricted, which adds to the challenges; If you replay a level you've completed, the AutoSave function is turned off (essentially making it impossible to replay a level to find something you might have missed (and need to use later) unless you restart from the beginning of the game). If you can get over those issues, you may enjoy this game a lot. I did. Parents take note: There is a setting to turn off the violence (which is copious), but if your child is playing, he controls the controller and could easily turn the violence right back on. If you're buying this for a child under 17, watch as they play to see if it's right for your child. I won't be letting any of my nephews (12 and younger) watch or play it. Turok: Evolution is great fun, challenging, and very bloody. It's rated M for Mature.

got the game 3 days before the release and man is it fun, you have so many weapons (in th ebeginning you only have a few but you pick more up as you progress through the levels) the multiplayers is amazing ( there are so many options of what to do, there are like 15 multiplayer modes, all which are completally different), and the graphics are amazing. THe computer is so smart, and the ai is incredible. Also, the missions are really fun, challenging ( its pretty easy in the beggining) and are relatively long but not Halo long ( Halo missions take like an hour each). Also each weapon has a special mode ( or two extra modes) some of the weapons include battle axe, bow and arrow, shotgun, pistol, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, grenades, proximity mines, photon cannon, gravity disrupter, and many more. If you are a parent and are looking at this game for your child, dont be allarmed by the heavy gore in this game because you can toggle on or off the gore in this game ( so you can make the enemies not bleed when you shoot them). THis is a great game and you have to buy it, in my opinion it is as good if not much better than Halo.

It Blew My Mind at E3!,
By Rab Nesbitt (Austin, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Turok: Evolution (Video Game)
Early in the year, I was skeptical about Turok based upon some very early Quicktime movies I'd seen at IGN.com. However, when I saw the game at E3, I was completely floored. While the beautiful textures and top-notch audio were to be expected, the A.I. is better than anything I've seen before. It was already breathtaking, and just think how much better it will be in September at launch!I must confess, this game looked significantly better than Metroid Prime. This is the one FPS to own this fall -- and yes, Metroid is a FPS, not an adventure game :) I've pre-ordered my copy of Turok, and I suggest you do likewise!
