5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I'm so glad I came across this book! It's obvious Chris Adams was allowed into the inner Bunnyman circle. Lyrics, conversations, stories, this book has beaucoup info. It's the best book I've read on a band in a long time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing to write home about

I would give this book negative stars if I could. Mundane writing at best about an 80s band. Echo did not exactly set the world on fire, but they deserve a more skilled and experienced writer to explore their history. After I finished reading the book, my response was, "Ok, so what?" Easily forgettable.

5.0 out of 5 stars The coolest book ever published, January 23, 2003

This book goes beyond a mere biographic narrative of a band. It delivers as advertised, presented in the coolest layout design I've ever seen. If you're a Bunnymen fan then this is a must have; the lyrics alone are worth it, if you're a music fan then this is a must have because of the historical content with regards to music, Liverpool, and it shows that as a society there was substance in the music we listened to. This book proves "POPULAR" music did not just move from the 70's and disco into the 80's and hair bands. There was Echo and the Bunnymen bridging the gap from "POPULAR" music over to music that mattered and here they are telling us how it all happened. Mr. Adams has redefined the rock/music biography. Excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gives the "inside" story of the band and the songs!, August 21, 2003

Awesome book with a great layout! I was lucky enough to meet Chris Adams and saw him interacting with the band personally, so I know he was able to get some great inside information. The book has a wonderful layout with the stories behind the songs from Mac and the band. I loved how Chris included the band's comments and reviews from years gone by- it really gives you a unique perspective about what they were thinking and going through at the time. I laughed out loud quite a few times at some of the quotes and I feel like I really know the band now. The book just flows and you don't want to put it down once you start it. An absolute MUST for any fan! Highly recommended!

Very cool little book with band quotes and interviews, lyrics, recent and older photos and a band bio. My mum loves this band and I have gotten to know many fans and I would recommend this book to each of them as it was written by someone who also loves EatB. Nice collectable for any fan and worthy of this group.

Enjoyed the book immensely....didn't much like the type-setting or format of the book, but the content was EXCELLENT! Any true Bunnymen fan simply MUST read and possess this book. It is worth any amount of $$ just to read some of Ian McCulloch's arrogant and hilarious quotations. I absolutely loved the book. Chris you are the best!

4.0 out of 5 stars Echo and the Bunnymen book TURQUOISE DAYS, January 25, 2010

I really like this book. It presents the band's history/ career interestly through quotes of theirs from interviews and reviews of albums and comments in articles about them.

Would have been better if the author credited the interviews the band quotes were from. Having done one for Rockpool magazine in 1990 it would have been nice to see the magazine the interview appeared it at least named. Kind of weird to just come upon quotes from an interview I did way back when...

It's a great book for fans. I enjoyed it. Best thing about it is that Ian McCulloch's quotes over the years are unparalleled: funny, witty, sometimes outrageous and more often amazingly accurate and true. I also liked reading about Ian and Will's favorite music. Well recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read and a valuable permanent resource, October 24, 2008

This is a chronological "oral history" sort of book. 90% of the text is made up of interview material and press clippings. The other 10% glues all this together into a coherent episode-by-episode history.

I'm a die-hard Bunnymen fan, and on the whole, I learned quite a bit, both about the band's history and about the personalities of everyone involved. The drawback is that Ian McCulloch is the source of well over half of the quotations that make up the book, and lots of his comments were made well after the songs and events he's talking about. I would have preferred more from other band members and more contemporaneous commentary - but I'm sure the author would have liked that too!

The feature of the book that makes it a permanent reference is the inclusion of EVERY lyric from the Bunnymen, up through "Flowers." (The Mac solo albums' lyrics are also included, while the Ian-less period's lyrics are omitted.) Alongside each lyric is commentary relating to it, which is often quite informative.

5.0 out of 5 stars speak up i can't hear, January 14, 2006
This review is from: Turquoise Days: The Weird World of Echo & the Bunnymen (Paperback)
This book peers behind the facade of the bunneymen and reveals the history through the press clippings and interviews of the key players before during and after the bunneymen were at the top...( sorry but i think mac just croons instead of sings now which ruins the great guitar of will...just one man's opinion).
