4.0 out of 5 stars Good headset for XB1 March 7, 2014
Edition:XO Four
Just finished a few rounds of CoD: Ghosts and the simulated 5.1 surround sound has been great! The info online has been a bit scarce, so I'll post a few answers to things I had questions on before purchasing:

1. There are conflicting articles online as to whether this is an on-the-ear or over-the-ear headset - it is over-the-ear.

2. All XB1 headsets that plug into the controller are stereo. The 5.1 is pre-processed by the XB1 and sent wirelessly in stereo.

3. if all you care about is game sound, but don't need voice chat, just get the $25 adapter, then you can use any headset you already own (including cheapo earbuds if that's your thing)

4. it is wireless... sorta. The headphones connect to an included adapter that plugs into the controller, which is wireless. - so... psuedo wireless.

5. Near as I can tell, the big differences between the XO4 ($99) and the XO7($159) is memory foam padding, swappable cosmetic speakerplates and pleather ear cuffs, but the audio tech appears to be the same. Me being a bit on the cheap side, decided that the extra padding and cosmetics weren't worth an extra $60.

My only real complaint (hence 4 stars not 5) is that the headset overall isn't very comfortable for gaming sessions lasting more than a few hours, but that may just be a case of needing time to break in.

One tidbit of note: This headset, along with any other headset for the Xbox One, the firmware for the controller needs to be updated before the adapter will work. Its simple enough to go through, but good to know ahead of time. - If you don't have the Play and Charge Kit, don't worry, the XO4 comes with a micro-usb cable that you can use to perform the update.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic with a Minor Complaint March 11, 2014
Edition:XO Four
I picked my XO Fours the other day. For the most part I am very pleased. I consider myself a competitive recreational gamer, who generally plays video games most days of the week. I'm 6'3" with normal proportions (so I have a larger than normal head), and I find the headset to be very comfortable. I find the sound to be excellent.

I used to have a pair of Turtle Beach Ear Force X11s (wired set). While they provided good sound I always thought the wires running between my couch and the Xbox and TV was a hassle. People could trip on them, dogs could chew on them, and they were just unsightly. So the fact that the XO Fours have only one wire running to just the controller is a welcomed improvement, and unlike previous wireless Turtle Beach headsets the XO Fours DO NOT require that you set up a wireless transmitter/router. It's just very simple. This feature alone makes them worth it.

I found the X11s to be very comfortable, and the new XO Fours are just as comfortable. As for the sound, I admit it has been a few months since I gamed with my X11s, so I can't say how the X11s and XO Fours sound side-by-side, but as far as I can tell the XO Fours are just as good.

Here is where I will lodge a complaint about the XO Fours. You can't hear yourself talk! Oh, this doesn't seem like a big deal? Let me explain. The XO Fours have pretty good noise cancellation. So when you speak into the headset it is difficult to tell how loud you are. My old X11s put your voice in your own headset so you could better control your voice. With the XO Fours you cannot hear yourself in this manner, and you could inadvertently start yelling at your fellow teammates without knowing it. Besides just your teammates you could wake anyone in your home.

All in all I am very pleased with this product, and I would recommend them to anyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars XO Four is a great headset March 15, 2014
By Ryan
Edition:XO Four|Verified Purchase
I originally purchased the xo sevens, I got them and was using them for call of duty ghosts. I am a smaller guy, so i have a smaller head and the xo sevens were just too big for me. I had heard that the xo fours were a little bit smaller, so I returned the xo sevens and bought the xo fours. When I received them the mic cover that alot of other people said was missing from the package, was also missing in mine. I contacted Turtle Beach customer service department about the issue and in a couple days they responded back saying they would be shipping my mic cover out asap without question. These xo fours fit me much better than the xo sevens. They are a little bit tight at first, but after you get a little time on them they loosen up. They sound great, I can hear which direction people, gunfire, and other sounds of the game are coming from. I know some people have said they can't and I don't understand why, because I am able to. The xo fours and xo sevens sound identical, I should know because i used both of them. As for people complaining that they are not "surround sound" that is microsofts issue not turtle beach as the xbox one is only allowing stereo through the controller/adapter at this time. I'm sure they will release an update so that "dolby surround" will be able to be used through the controller/adapter. I would recommend these Turtle Beach xo fours to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Xbox one TB headphones March 8, 2014
Edition:XO Four
I bought the XO four for the the following reasons, 1 is price. The headphones that MS are selling look cheap and uncomfortable to start with and 2, I wanted to keep the cost under $100 for a decent headphone with chat capabilities that were better than the set offered by MS in the box (hated those mono headsets). My previous set was a pair of Tritton warhead for the 360 and they were awesome but unfortunately were not compatible with XB1. Using that as a audio test sample, the XO 4 were ok with the sound, a little muddy and muted as compared to the Trittons but acceptable. Chat was clean, no complaints from my clan while playing cod ghosts, they said the sound was good and clear. The headphones are comfortable and fit a little tight to the head, but being new I suspect that they will break in, wore them 5 hours straight and not horribly uncomfortable. Oddly enough the picture on the box shows a foam cover on the mic...but none in the box, not a big deal, but product representation should be accurate. The set up was pretty straight forward but any detail info on the product you have to go to TB web site and download the PDF manual for the headphones. I thought the head phones took batteries but I found out through the PDF that it doesn't need batteries as it plugs into your controller. That being said, if your an early adopter of new tech, these aren't bad, if you can wait, buy just the adapter sold by itself and plug older wired headphones in, (typical stereo headphone jack like you would use on your ipod 3mm) and wait for other companies to put their headphones on the market. The TB XO are good headphones, I wouldn't spend the extra $60 on the XO7 as the memory foam cups and interchangeable cup plates weren't enough for me to justify the price tag when the internal components are the same IMHO. Enjoy and happy gaming...
